Am I missing something on this 3rd for 3rd trade? 5 reject votes? I passed it but my thinking Ducks could have got a 5th added for giving up an earlier 3rd for one 2 years later! Got to get little more value for giving up 3rd 2 years sooner my thinking was but guys are experience and not bad enough to vote no

Guys a 2020 3rd is not worth less than a 2018 3rd, especially not one at the end of the round. This is a very common nhl move, and I don't believe nhl gms ask for a premium to defer to another year. Picks are picks regardless of the year or if/when they materialize. If im wrong I don't want to be right!

Am I missing something on this 3rd for 3rd trade? 5 reject votes? Personally, I couldn't understand it. Why trade a pick now for a pick 2 years down the road? You gain nothing and you lose 2 years of development time on your prospect. While it is only 3rd round picks and mostly irrelevant, using the 60-40 rule, I found this trade to be 100-0, and thus voted in kind. I just couldn't make any sense out of it.

Am I missing something on this 3rd for 3rd trade? 5 reject votes? Also: "Assuming it passes, the 2018 BOS 3rd is available. I'm looking for a 2019 3rd, along with another 3rd as premium. Looking forward to all the offers!" - This is basically and admission that you are getting something for nothing right now, since you wanna flip the pick you're getting for a pick in 2019 and ANOTHER 3rd as well....basically telling us that you got this 3rd for below market value, by at least another pick or two. LOL that was tongue in cheek. My sarcasm proficiency is advanced. I'll take it down shortly

Text isn't always great for such things, if you wanna make it more obvious in the future, throw a little (/s) on the end of it, it means "sarcasm"

I can’t understand how you don’t get any added value in the deal for a pick two years earlier… like if this deal included another pick to Ana that makes sense but to say hey take my third this year and in exchange I’ll wait to pick two years from now in the same round is... crazy to me.
Am I missing something?

Third round pick is a third round pick, year is irrelevant.

Third round pick is a third round pick, year is irrelevant. 2 years of prospect development and potential usability means nothing? K, all my picks from 2022 are available for all the same picks 2018. A pick is a pick right?

If this is a deal you would consider rejecting Im in the wrong league. Really if someone would consider it, well I did so I guess you are. I passed it but not bad enough to turn down for me as voter. I know if anyone wanted a earlier pick now or during draft and offered me straight up pick two years later, I would consider turning it down I would say no, I need more always. But that's just me.

A pick is a pick right? It's all relative. Trading a 2018 1st today for a 2019 1st might make sense for someone looking for an extra lottery ball in the Hughes sweepstakes. Of course you don't want to move more than a year down not knowing much about 2020 prospects. Nhl gms defer picks all the time during drafts if they don't like anyone at the pick range. Boston pick is the 23rd pick in the round. The 2020 pick can easily be much higher. Also the odds of a player taken in the 3rd materializing into ratings, are probably less than 2%. To me this is piece of currency for another piece of currency deal.

But then again I look at every deal to make sure it's never 70-30 this one is not. 55-45 yeah it is a pass deal always.
