Any player that was willing to do that lazy shit PLD was doing is cancer IMO, the fact they got more than a bag of used pucks surprised me, getting Laine is incredible. Jarmo must be the smoothest talker in the league.

I have read a lot about how Colombus did great and I really don't see it at all, but I will say I think Laine is very overrated. I think he clearly can score but also is a guy I have zero faith in bringing it in big games, zero faith in him working hard to just maintain his level let alone try to improve his game. I also think Roslovic is living off more of his repuatation than when he has actually shown in the NHL. He may develop into a 3rd liner but that is his ceiling in my view.
But in a vacuum maybe I could see that Colombus looks good in this deal because that talent of Laine is pretty highly rated, but my biggest complaint from the Blue Jackets side of the deal is they now have a center group that is some combination of Domi-Texier-Roslovic-Koivu, that is terrible. Potentially the worst center group in the NHL. Domi is a winger. I know he wants to play center but it is a terrible fit for him. Texieir is an overrated "young" player that has shown little indication that he can be a top 6 guy. Koivu is old and injured and Roslovic is meh.
I hate the idea of gutting their center depth so much. I would have much rather seen CBJ get a center back even if they were not at the hype level of a Laine.
I think that even though Laine may be a better player than PLD, Winnipeg ends up improving their team more than CBJ because of the fit of the player on their team. If they slide Statsny over to LW put PLD on the 2nd line and drop Copp to the 3rd line Winnipeg has a very good top 9 forward group, with a nice mix of offense.defense and toughness.

Jarmo must be the smoothest talker in the league. That lazy shit is a typical Laine shift though. I get that the video clip of PLD got all the publicity but having had Calgary play Laine many times I have seen similar efforts from him as well.

With arguments on both sides, sounds like a pretty even trade then!

I think in a talent perspective that Columbus won, from a team building perspective that Winnipeg clearly won.
So maybe you are right that it was an even trade. Both teams were in a tough spot with guys who wanted out, and as Flames fans we both know how bad those kind of trades can work out- Savard, Gilmour. So credit to both teams for getting something of value back.
I just can give Jarmo credit for building a team with that center depth that he has, it is awful for any team, let alone one that is supposedly competing for a play-off spot.

As far as having the worst center depth in the NHL, may I remind you the Detroit Red Wings still exist? Larkin is the only good one, then behind him we have Filppula, Nielsen, and then Glendening. woof
I think Torterella is going to have a huge impact on Laine. He obviously wants to work and CBJ has always been a grind it out team. I also think we are going to see the beautiful rise of Texier into a 1C (bookmark this comment for when he becomes an impact NHL player)

At least the Hawks have found a new goalie, Lanky looks like the real deal.

Well, the crazy season continues... Now it is with the Blue Shirts and their Dman DeAngelo.
It was confirmed today that he has plaid his last game in NY. With what has been said and rumored out there, if any of them are true, I would be surprised if another team would take a chance on him.
Specially, when you look how the NHL and team did not hesitate to "flush" their coaches or staff members that had "conduct unbecoming", last season.
It will be interesting to see he DeAngelo plays again in the NHL, or if teams stay away from him. And I would not be surprise if a deal is made with a lower capped team for them to buy him out.

At least the Hawks have found a new goalie, Lanky looks like the real deal. He looked good when he played the Wings, even though we put out bad offense and don't generate a ton of chances, the chances we did generate he was solid on.

I have real doubts if Deangelo ever plays in the league again, I know many guys in all sports have got 2nd/3rd/4th chances after doing shitty things but that is usually after apologizing and/or making changes. Deangelo seems to have zero desire to change, maybe this changes if he is out of the league for awhile but not sure that he ever will change. Other problem he has is that his issues are with teammates so likely won't have their support to come back. Guys like AB (in NFL) was brought to TB in large part because Brady fought for him to be brought in, I don't think Deangelo has anyone go to bat for him.
There is also the fact that he is terrible defensively. I know that Rangers fans try to defend his defensive play but it is bad, so he also has to overcome that when trying to come back, as sad as it is guys with talent will always be given more rope and no GM wants to bring in a troubled guy that might also suck on the ice.

Iβm kind of out of the loop on him, can someone fill me in on why he got bounced? I only heard that heβs a trumper and switching to parlor, but did something else happen?

Well, he apparently stole K'Andre Miller's puck from his first goal (but it is not confirmed) He apparently is racist and does not hide it Had a fight with Georgiev after the Ranger and Pens first game. Made a fuss after being benched for games 2 and 3 of the season that is what I know so far, aside from the other stuff from his twitter account

The political stuff is being thrown around by people but I think that has little to nothing to do with it other than maybe having some of the more extreme views he does have leads to him being more a dick. I think if it was just his political views and Parler switch he would still be there.
Al does a decent job outlining the incidents, the puck incident has two different reports on whether it did or did not happen.
The report I read said Deangelo already had some trouble previously and Gorton (NYR GM) told him before the season that if there were more incidents he was gone. Then as Al pointed out, he bitched about being sat and then got into a physical confrontation with Georgiev, with some unverified reports Krieder may have punched him in the face but I think that may be iffy, so Gorton then said you were told no more and put him on waivers.
I am not sure if you are familiar with his junior career, I think you are in Ontario, so sorry if this is repeating stuff you know but while there he was suspended twice for racist comments, at least one of those times towards one of his own teammates.
There have been reports of him having racists comments while with the Rangers that lead to his warning from Gorton in the off=season.
I tried to stay away from rumours, although not that well, but I think that shows why it is a "he's being persecuted for being a conservative" and he is being released and not picked up because he is a POS human being.

Other unverified reports or rumors say it was Miller that stepped in and punched him in the face.
I guess it is safe to say, that we will never get the full story. But one thing is for sure, a guy like him has no place in the NHL.
