I want to thank everyone for their responses to the polls and I'm sure you all are just as excited as I am to get the league rolling again. Some notes as we move forward:
Plan for the League
I have plan in mind to avoid the problem we ran into prior where we put all the pressure on one person to run the league and eventually have that person burn out. Jon kept this league running for years and I think spreading the load will help avoid any cases of this in the future. With that in mind I would love to make a roles list where we can have users who are willing take on some work to prep certain things (draft, trades, free agency etc.). Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Redraft Vote
The results are in and the league will be moving forward with its previous rosters. While I don't think either option was necessarily "easier" for me I do appreciate everyone's input and willingness to be flexible as we work to get the league going again. All teams will be keeping there rosters / prospects for now I will be using basic NHL ratings files for players, so the league may need time to get going, but I promise I am trying to keep the sim as accurate to what we had going before.
Team Changes / Relocations
As mentioned I have opened the option for managers to change their teams if they are available. This is about as good a time as we will get to "refresh the league" and have some new teams switch in. So far team choices are pretty cut and dry, and I as I said managers will have first dibs at the teams they had before. Currently the new layout is as follows (THEY ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE IF I HEAR FROM ORGINAL MANAGERS THIS WEEK):
Staying Put:
Anaheim - Alain
Boston - Jim
Buffalo - Liam
Calgary - Chris
Carolina - Kevin
Chicago - Gavin
Colorado - Jon
Florida - Kevin
Minnesota - Jeff
Montreal - Shawn
New Jersey - Ron
New York Islanders - Scott
San Jose - Jake
Tampa Bay - Lance
Toronto - Eug
Vancouver - Joe
Washington - Greg
Winnipeg - Aaron
Making Moves:
Edmonton >> Seattle - Bobby
New York Rangers >> Dallas - Graham
Detroit >> Ottawa - Hunter
St Louis >> Edmonton - Gary
Pittsburgh >> Detroit - Mike
Teams to be Filled:
Los Angeles
Former Philly Team (Retired)
Nashville
If anyone could start putting feelers out to friends that they think would be interested in the league we can fill these rosters back up quick.
Philly and Ray
I believe we were all still pretty active around the time that Gavin had updated us on Ray. As a founding member of the league Ray deserves some recognition of his service to the league. As such I propose the following:
Effective immediately the Philadelphia team will be retired from the JGHL.
As well the Manager of the year trophy will be renamed from the Jack Adams Trophy to the Ray Steidele Manager of the Year Award. Please offer any feedback below before we finalize these options.
Going Forward
This week I will be going over the league file and finalizing the team changes in the engine. Then the plan is to input and prep anything needed to get drafts rolling. We essentially have 2 weeks from this Saturday till the real life NHL starts up and id like to try and get us back on course for that. I will be reaching out by email and on here soon to start the discussion on availability for the back to back drafts and if it comes to it a plan for the teams that we don't get filled before season start.
Id also like to add, for those interested, that i started a JGHL Discord server. It is a fun way for us to keep in touch and talks trades and such. Obviously i know some managers didn't like the idea of adding another app, so this is strictly for fun and just to shoot the shit. Link is here: discord.gg/n9MEs6Mv5x
Thanks everyone!
