With the start of the season right around the corner, the Red Wings are eager to get the action started. With a ton of off-season moves Detroit has quickly thrust themselves into the top tier of teams in the west. Newcomers to the roster include Spezza, Franzen, Tanguay, and high-priced free agent additions in Streit and Vokoun. Those players, combined with the emergence of young talent such as Krejci, Perry, Pavelski, Burrows, and Wideman to name a few should surely come together for a very strong season for the Wings.
At a recent practice GM Cody was quoted as saying, "We really like our team and chances a lot this season. We have brought in a great group of players that we think we blend well with our young talent and veteran leadership we have on the team already. We strongly feel that we have put ourselves right up in the top 3 of the west. It's no secret that the road to the cup goes through Calgary, but we really feel we have all the tools needed to compete. As of now the plan because of our depth is to roll four lines and keep our players as fresh as possible, and we hope that will make for a long season of great production. As the season rolls along anything can change, but here are the lines we will be going into the season with. We feel every line has a great balance of offense, defense and checking, and we just want to get this thing started already!"
Franzen - Krejci - Clowe
Streit - Edler
Burrows - Spezza - Perry
Wideman - Quincey
Tanguay - Pavelski - Peverly
Skrastins - Meyer
Bergenheim - White - Williams
Streit - Wideman
