Can't believe Gavin got Jonas Gustavsson for $1.75 mill a year, that's a huge steal!

Some amazing salaries in my opinion, even if some of those guys turn out well, it may take a few years and then they will be affected by cap and people will be looking to move them with limited market out there for overprices 65-66 OV guys

Definitely more accountability with the contracts this year. I guess we can give rangers a pass cause hes new, but that 6.1 mil for Yip might come back to haunt him

Unassigned draft and fa made about the same amount of sense this year And by mean Yip gets 6.1, Benn gets 4.5, jovanovski gets 7 and gonchar gets 6

well if you take a look at my roster I don't have lots of big salary compared to a few of you, so I figured wtf. besides i've seen some of the bidding you guys do in FA....... Go big or go home.

It's not the worse bid we've seen, cause Yip has the potential to be a 50-60 point winger.. But ill bet you the next highest bid was 3 mil max. It's always the issue with the silent bidding, you want the guy but have no idea how badly the next team wants him so you overcompensate.

The gms know the risks now. If a player doesn't fulfill his potential and the gm drops him, the team is on the hook for part of his salary. IMO there are 4 or 5 guys that will be dropped next year from last nights silent bids alone. Plus, if they don't drop them, they hamper themselves significantly in fa next year. That being said, I'm a big fan of Yips too and probably would have bid up to 5 mil for him.
