LOL Jon. Yes the most unlikely trade partners made a splash. I do believe I gave up a lot but not without reason. First off, I had to give salary back otherwise I'm fucked completely. Malone was the most expendable, and I was shopping him for a ufa for a while now. Way I see it its Malone for Markov, and koivu and goligoski for 2 years of vokoun, which ill take gladly. If ward has a good season then ill trade vokoun after this year and get some of what I gave up back. It's become pretty apparent that you can't win a cup unless you got a shutdown type of goalie. They don't come better rated than the V man. Well see if it pays off. Def a great deal for Detroit tho, can't argue that. Classic win win. My reference to the enemy, is ANY TEAM that stands between you and the Cup if you think you have a shot.

Actually not sure Roloson is the answer in goal, big let down there and defense is not the same, Detriot is not like Calgary in that manner as Chris kept his core players and di not move many and just beat the hell out of every with same team..... Thinking Vokoun will be a big loss for Detriot in this deal. Malone and Koivu are great additions but neither have been on Cup winner while Vokoun pretty much carried alot for the Wings to win in my opinion. Just look at the Vokoun awards...... like I said I think Eug gave up alot but also believe that Vokoun will be missed big time by Wings. I will say Wings are solid up the middle no doubt! We were planning on doing some sort of mini re-build, but things kind of took a turn for the moment. Our defense might not be as strong as last year (loss of Markov and Babchuk, decline of Wideman) but I think our top 4 are still damn pretty solid..... Streit - 78PA/70SC/78DF Kuba - 79PA/74DF Edler - 79PA/71DF Goligoski - 76PA/70DF Probable 5 and 6: Skrastins - 78DF Meyer - 86CK/72DF Obviously Roloson is no Vokoun, but he's got pretty solid numbers across the board to keep things going

No disrespect just stating what I see

How is the Backstrom trade 5 for/5 against? Shawn has been trying to move Backstrom for weeks, and clearly this was the best offer he got. There just isn't a big market for UFAs, unless they have elite ratings and/or are cheap... not many teams can afford or are willing to make room for a 7 million dollar goalie, who has just "OK" ratings for a starter.

Two 4th's and a 5th? Well if this trade gets rejected, why don't you offer a couple of 2nds for him?

What Sharky said. He's been trying to deal him forever, for just about anything. The fact he got 3 picks, no matter what round is amazing. No idea how/why people are rejecting this trade.
