While I'm not very high on Boyes...a 3rd?! That seems really low to me. Compared to what he's done in the past, the guys been pathetic this year. I can see why the Blues gave him up.. he's not going to bounce back and be the scorer he was for a few years. And for the fact that not many people even wanted anything to do with Boyes.. i felt that i was fortunae to get a third rounder.

I agree, Boyes was worth next to nothing any more.

Well did not make any trades are deadline for the first time, but real happy with team this season. After going 3-4-3 in a 10 game run, we seem to get ship going in right direction hopefully and get ready for playoffs. With hot goalie, anything can happen and after having rough 10 game run and now only 3 point out of top of east we look forward to getting ready for playoffs. Tried to make move to make team stronger but just could not pull anything off.

Kind of a slow deadline, I think all of the contenders made their moves last week and ran out of cap space.
I'm happy with the small moves my team made. I think I strengthened my team both this season and next, while going from a single 5th round pick in the 2012 draft to six picks, including three 2nd rounders. Unfortunately I had to give up Franson and over 2 million in cap space to add two of those picks.
Overall I'm disappointed my team missed out on a lot of opportunities to make big trades. I came close to landing Pacioretty and Stastny, and put in a competitive offer involving Landeskog for Getzlaf. Plus, I remember at the beginning of the season I was offered Ryan O'Reilly for Seidenberg... sigh.
And then theres the Burrows and Lupul for Hemsky and Bailey trade. Terrible. That set my team back a year and the kicker is that Lupul ended up with a conference rival next season.

We're definitely happy with the deals we got done (Kunitz, Jurcina, Turco) but obviously would have liked to have done more and certainly tried! It seems we kept running into the same 3 problems...1. GMs who don't even bother to respond to PMs 2. GMs who still haven't even read their PMs (it's the deadline!) and 3. Teams wanting the world for what players have done, not what they really are and are actually doing But we still feel we have a contender and are in great shape for another cup run!

I am glad I did not pull trigger on any offers that had Carlson or Schneider, although Schneider was in an offer late but iplayer wanted was not available.....so unlike past seasons where I might have traded all my youth, I did keep the major guys so happy that I did not do something I would regret later like so many past deals.....

The best deal for me, has to be the Staal deal, considering what he has done since he's come off the IR, Parenteau also seems a steal at this point.

The Canucks are very pleased with how the 2011-2012 season played out. We started the year with a decent team that had no shot of winning a championship, and really had no organizational depth or young assets, so we decided we had to take a step back.
Now we have a bunch of great young players in the system and six picks in the top 32 or 33 in next year's draft. We're obviously still a couple of years away, but feel we're on a better track to challenge the big boys.
I would like to thank all of the teams I dealt with this season - those I made deals with and those that tried but didn't quite get it done. It's you guys who make this league fun.

Although I did get Carlson, thinking I loss on that one... I was mostly okay with it until Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals last year.... Then he had a slow start...started to find his game again, then boom, out again with concussion. If he can fight through it and come back healthy next season, I'll consider myself lucky

Don't be too hard on yourself because of injuries... I thought Zajac was going to rebound with a 50+ point season this year before he tore his achilles. When I traded for Steen, he was supposed to be back with the team within a few days. Then he suffers "visual problems" while practicing and he's out indefinitely. Nothing you can do
