Mighty TB marches on to another victory!
Tomas Kaberle third in scoring for defensemen, who would have thought?

Tough game against the talented Oilers tomorrow. Unfortunately Bryzgalov needs the night off.

That's amazing, guess I should start puttin guys on the block. So taking offers for my team. If I can't beat the weakest team in the league there is something very wrong.

First time being outshot this year...against LA, outscored 4-1 with my only goal on the PP. Top 6 SC ratings on LA - 77, 74, 72, 71, 71, 70 Top 6 SC ratings on Chicago - 81, 76, 75, 74, 74, 69 I am really dumbfounded by the sim sometimes, I just don't get how a team with more offense and a strategy slightly skewed towards offense, results in...less offense. Its really hard to adjust things and plan a strategy when the results seemingly never reflect the numbers. Might as well take a dice and roll my lineup randomly, would be as effective it seems.

I'm sure pro sports teams in real life wonder the same thing. I guess it would be too predicatble and no need to even play the games if the "best" team always won. Crazy to think that Vancover lost games last year to Montreal or Edmonton. Amazing to see that Kansas City beat the Saints this year. Shocking that the Yankees (2nd must runs scored) only put up 6 runs in 4 games in the series against Detroit. They really shouldn't have played these games at all, I mean what's the point when you know who the "better" team is

That being said, sometimes there feels like a little too much randomness

I agree with everything said above by Jon and Shawn, and it's good for the league, and yes I'll be the first to say any team can beat you, on any given day. When you lose a game you are a prohibitive favorite in, it requires blowin off some steam. So no offense intended to anyone.

Any line that uses a strategy like 0-0-5 should be punished with goals against...especially against a team with firepower to throw at it. I'm going 0-0-5 on all 4 lines and defense (with the exception of the PK) for awhile, nothing else seems to make any logical sense, so I'm sure that won't either and will result in at least 3 shutouts in a row. Will start Hedberg as well, since Mike Smith the worst 84 OV goalie in the league too

Everyone, please make a list of all the teams that you SHOULD beat, so if you don't then I know to stay off the boards for a day and not listen to the complaining. I'll tell ya, it'd be really nice to know who's going to win the Superbowl this year. I mean all we should have to do is look at teams players and abilities to figure it out. Why even play the games if the best team "should" always win? Hell why even play pro seasons at all?. Just have experts analyze teams and award the winners, I mean it's clearly not fair when a "worse" team wins a game!

I think it is all about probability... a line with a 0-0-5 strategy is more likely to score goals, and to get scored against. Some games they'll get scored on, others they won't. If you played a 1000 games, it would even out.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the sim. The old sim had high rated players under perform too.

Even the 1974-75 Washington Capitals won eight games. In pro sports, the best team doesn't always win - evidenced by the Canucks 7-6 shootout thriller today against Detroit - so any sim that captures that is right on as far as I'm concerned.

In my mind, 0-0-5 is basically 5 men deep...it should lead to 2 on 0 rushes the other way, constantly, which should be goals 90% of the time. I'm certain it doesn't actually do this...they are likely modifiers instead, so it puts a large modifier on offense but none on defense, etc; instead of them actually being "strategy". Either way, as usual, extremes beat balance, which is the opposite of how it should work.
