Pretty slick trade by the Aves moving up to grab Drouin, Jones, or Barkov. Galchenyuk, MacKinnon and one of those guys is going to make a pretty sweet core in a year or two.

I like it too! It took a while to get done but I think it was worth it. I lose out on a 1st but move a probable top 5/potential top 3 pick up by one year. We got a lot of great young talent, I just hope it all comes together.

Avs did all right, but the Canucks aren't complaining. Losing out on Barkov or Jones was tough, but I think I'll get two really good players with the 6th and 8th picks. Who knows. One of those guys may turn out to be a better player than the Top 4. I also add a 3rd first rounder in the 2015 draft which is supposed to be strong. So all in all a good deal for both.

Solid trade for both. Avs will be able to add another cornerstone guy, and Canucks can add 2 impact prospects to an already deep pool. It will be interesting to see if Jones get passes up on in our league as well.

Two late thirds for a 1st? I don't understand. Is there supposed to be a third piece on LA's side?

Yeah i had the same thoughts.... i didnt understand the deal... it confused me from a logic standpoint and from a formatting standpoint as well... wasnt very clear at all.
I would think there's a third piece involved.....he cant be trading two third round picks for a first round pick.

That trade makes zero sense. I am surprised anyone has passed it.

My My, some of you guys really like to work things up at times. If any of you bothered to look on the block, you'd see i was selling those picks for a 2nd in 014, why, so I can have Comp for a possible RFA bid. Mike popped up with the 1st cause he doesn't have a 2nd, and is glad to have some picks in this draft. Some of you guys seem to get off on telling others how stupid they are.

Well when it's that blatant, It has to be identified... this deal makes no sense... and hurts the league.

I find that comment insulting and over reactive Kevin.

Last season we agreed that GM's were not goin to sway votes by expressing opinions on how we should all vote, so that one can make up their mind, on their own, without back and forth arguments. Once a trade is approved or rejected then all comments are welcome, if diplomacy is exercised.

Once a trade is approved or rejected then all comments are welcome, if diplomacy is exercised. I'm sorry, i know that the thought of not expressing opinions on votes was discussed but i dont recall the league agreeing to a protocol. What's the point in expressing your opinion about a trade then? People should have the most information available to them in order to make a decision. Quite frankly i was happy to know that Detroit and SJ felt the same way about the deal that i did. And i apologize if you or Mike finds my comment on "this trade hurting the league" insulting, but with all due respect, I believe it does. Trading two third rounders for a first rounder doesnt make sense. When i vote for a deal, i pass about 98% of the trades i see... regardless of how they look or seem, i grade a deal based on whether or not it's good for the league, not for the team. Teams will win or lose deals and that should happen (if deals that were blatantly 50/50 were the only deals passed, that wouldn't be a good thing either) but i feel that this deal hurts the league. I won't comment any further since some feel that opinions shoulndt be expressed.

Okok guys.
Lets not act like we are in communist russia (or cold war USA for that matter lol).
People can express what they feel. Just try to be constructive. No hurt feelings!
