Since this seems to be the topic of the day I figured I would make a dedicated thread.
It's great to see how many people would be down for this, I'm just wondering how hard it would be to actually pull it off! It would be near impossible to find a date and place that everyone could make it, and of course there are some who might not even have any desire to. I personally think it's a great idea after all this time, it's crazy to think how long it's actually been!
It's weird, in my head each of you has their own "board personality" based on PMs we exchange and posts you make, it'd be weird to see if it translates to your real life personalities. Other than the 2 people I know from real life (Mike and Adam) the only person I've ever even spoken with is Gavin. I think I'd be kind of nervous to see Darren in action live lol!
Like I said earlier, I think Vegas would be the perfect place. It's a little further for the east coast guys, but it's Vegas so who really cares! But Of course I'd be open for any other suggestions.
So what does everyone else think about this.....what time of the year is best for you, what do you think about a location etc...? Post your thoughts here.....

Vegas is a solid choice, but I've never been and kinda scared to go being a gambler and having an addictive personality lol. Flight is not too expensive from here, but figure 2-3 grand spending money there is like minimum. So we should keep that in mind. Otherwise I'm ok with any destination.
Time wise, preferably over a weekend. Doesn't matter when as long as we agree on a date so I can book off work ahead of time.

I lived there for 3 years a few years back, you're crazy if you think you need 2-3 grand over a weekend lol! Unless of course you plan on playing $100 hands of blackjack, getting raped by locals at no limit, or like to bet $200-$300 on sports games. I'm a big gambler myself, you don't go as crazy as you think you would. There are some really nice casino/hotels off the strip that are 1/3 the price of antyhing on the strip and I'm sure if enough people decided to go that we could get some sort of block rate. Food also isn't as expensive as you'd think since there are so many quality restaurants to choose from, especially when it comes to "high end" steakhouses. And there's always places like the Wynn that have the sickest buffet you've ever seen, and for $35 can eat king crab legs till your limbs fall off lol. Other than that, rub & tugs will run you like $100-$150, alcohol is free as long as you're playing (even milking a video poker machine at the bar) and some cash for extras if you wanna like shoot automatic weapons or ride dune buggies or something.

I've spoken to Chris and Ron on the phone as well. Ron and I have had many conversations on the phone over the years and we exchange xmas cards.

Actually you and I spoke on the phone many years ago. I vaguely remember that I have a few friends in Vegas and like Jon said you'd be suprised how less money u need for a great time. Id rather go in the "cold" months. I agree on the colder months as well. Tickets will be cheaper, hotels will be cheaper and places are not as crowded, which also gives you lower limits on more tables.

Vegas sounds good to me, although I probably have the farthest to travel. I'm on the East Coast of Canada on Prince Edward Island. Jon will tell you I've been a big supporter of a meeting for a while. Of course it would have to be something scheduled well in advance. Wouldn't it be cool to hold the JGHL draft live next year....lol.

Man if we do Vegas...... it would be really cool to see if we could go at the same time the NHL awards are on......... wait they have those still right?
I knew a few guys that went one year at the same time and met a shit load of stars on the strip that were just walkin and hangin out...

Vegas, sounds good... Anytime would be good for me, but it cannot be a last minute thing, I just need to book the vacation time at work...
But I would prefer a winter month, in order to get a break from the cold winters up here in Canada; like sometime in January or February... LOL

As for personality, I am as shy and quiet in person as I am here. Very reserve and proper I am!

I'd do my utmost to make it.
Vegas - solid choice - could see us with a few "Hangover" moments if Darren involved...lol NHL Awards time - although I'd prefer winter months as well, this would be very cool - personally I'd be able to get a press pass for the event as well!
Just to toss out a couple of other destination potentials - what about Phoenix or another sunbelt team where we could all go and get sloshed at a hockey game. With all the building Vegas excitement I'm sure this might take a back seat as an option!
I'm currently in the process of designing some "The Hockey Writers" apparel to buy online (we know more for our own group of writers and not so much interest likely from the masses); just thinking be cool for those who went to arrive at our 1st meet up sporting JGHL/hockey themed apparel.
Are we booked yet?!?

Im definitely in.
I need some good advance notice, but thats about it.
If we are going to do vegas, I dont mind the "cold" months, but I went in January and had to wear a long sleeve shirt. Maybe late feb or march?
what we should REALLY do is all go to one of the outdoor classics coming up!
