I agree Jake. Pretty much everyone mentioned in this thread is a mess in their own zone. Personally I think the ratings used now, as opposed to my first time in the JGHL, do a much better job reflecting players actual results that the old program we used in the first few seasons.

Just putting it out there, but some of the bet offensive D also have great DF ratings.
Kronwall: 79 PA, 80DF Keith: 89 PA, 77 DF Suter: 74 PA, 77 DF
So its possible to have both, but the main determinant is whether the player plays a lot of PK. I said before i would like to see this changed a bit by increasing the weight of BLKs and takeaways, and maybe even adding something like corsi? ( havent checked nhl.com)
Corsi, gveaways and takeaways could be given more weight in PH than goals and assists currently are. JMO tho

It is a personal opinion Ron, but also based on the stats! Corsi isn't listed on NHL.com. And for some reason I suspect Karlson and Subban do not block many shots either they just aren't like the Doughty's, Weber's, Pietrangelo's etc... If they were, they would play in all situations. The new player tracking system that will be in place in a couple of years will improve our stat selection dramatically. I'm happy to wait until then before making any big changes.

For next season (off season discussion), I'd like to bring up the policy of a cap floor - since we're a cap league, I think their should be a cap floor as well. Interested to hear other thoughts in off season.

Interested to hear other thoughts in off season. It's been discussed before but all it would really do is encourage non-competitive teams to sign crappy UFA players for inflated 1-year contracts. I'm 4mil under the cap floor?...Ok, I'll just sign Henrik Tallinder for 1-year @ 4mil.

Agreed with Jon, I think it would be unhealthy for the league to bother with a cap floor.

And the FA Approval Voting Board/Committee is born...lol (just kidding) I hear ya - would be tough to monitor and enforce - I guess if it were to be, a simple system of obvious "Red Flag" FA signings could be questioned and then possibly voted on for approval disapproval, but yes this would create a tougher FA period, interfering with the signing timelines. I'm just one who really hates (it's a polarizing topic) the current NHL draft system setup (although they've improved it somewhat) and the system we use is much the same, but no - no easy solution.

Well, teams take on bloated contracts in the NHL for the floor as well, see Florida Panthers. So I don't think trying to enforce a "no bad contract" policy is right, much less worth doing in the first place.
