I understand that a lot of trades were made before today, as was the case in real life. My point is its not about the actual trades, but about the presence. How would I be evaluated as an NHL gm if on trade deadline day I was with my family and left my phone at home and wasn't able to respond to offers or inquiries. Things always happen last minute and its the ability to reach other people that dictates that.
We simply have a group of 5-10 GMs that are not engaged. I've beat this drum before I know.. But its a problem. Some people will check in once in a blue moon, make a block post then disappear for a week. That's unacceptable IMO.

Just sent it to you.. it was sent on 4:06.... The NHL has trades sneak in shortly after the 3pm deadline that are included... I'm hoping we can do the same, seeing as how games aren't being run until 7? Kevin and Darren are two of my favorite GMs, but if the deal wasn't submitted by 4pm, I can't see how it can be allowed. Many of us were working on things right up to the deadline and had to stop when the time ran out. If we knew we could negotiate longer, maybe we could have worked something out. In fairness to all the other GMs I don't think the trade can be allowed. Nothing personal guys.

Joe, I dont know how fair that is... if you're in the midst of finalizing a deal and it's just a matter having someone send a confirmation of a deal and that was finished shrotly after the deadline, i dont understand how unfair that is. It happens EVERY NHL deadline.. it's not a concrete deadline.. deals are always sneaking in an hour, sometimes two hours after ... it's just processing details.

It happens EVERY NHL deadline.. it's not a concrete deadline.. deals are always sneaking in an hour, sometimes two hours after ... it's just processing details. In the NHL, the specifics of the deal have to be emailed to the league before the deadline. But every deal has to have a trade call between the league and the participating clubs to verify all the details. That's why some deals look like they are finalized and reported after the deadline.

That's not fully accurate. NHLdeals are ssupposed to be submitted by 3pm sharp. The reason publichears it 1-2 hours later is due to physicals and other administrative things. I have to agree with Joe here, the rules are rules and were madepretty clear.

Honestly it's literally minutes difference and Gavin wasn't on at the deadline. We've extended the deadline in the past and I really don't consider this an extension. The same courtesy would be extended to anyone here.

Sorry, I never bother to keep my phone nearby since I never use it.

Totally different situation. You can only extend the deadline if you tell everyone it's extended. I was working on a major deal with San Jose and we ran out of time.

You are more than welcome to veto the trade due to the circumstances.

Anyway, it was sent in late for what its worth, but trades have been coming in for awhile, waiting till the last second seems unnecessary. I've been working a lot and work is stressful, this is my first real saturday in a month and didn't really wanna spend it refreshing the forums all day.

Guys, we've extended the deadline in the past so this isn't unchartered territories.. I really dont understand the fuss here. I'd really appreciate if you had a bit of compassion for a matter of minutes seeing as how this has been done in the past.
I'd also appreciate it a lot if more than 4 people could vote on the deal... it would be really great.

If one is talking trade and running out of time you should ask for the extension before zero hour, so that it is fair for others working on possible deals as well.

Ray, i totally get that.. but we had already agreed to the deal, it was just a matter of us confirming to Gavin which took us a few minutes past the daedline because Darren went offline briefly

You are more than welcome to veto the trade due to the circumstances. The problem with voting on the deal is that there are 12-13 guys who weren't on here all day and won't know the trade was late. But I've said enough and I'll shut-up now. Sorry, Jon and Gavin.

I tried to make a deal with Oilers and made offer and sent it in with note that if he agreed and sent in on time we had a deal, he did not get on board on time so no deal. No deals after 4 as everyone has to play on same playing field. There for a few trades I read about that did not make NHL deadline because they did not negotiate on time. I agree with Eug, it is the same people always with hit people and miss GMs I understand are busy but so is Jon and Gavin and everyone else. Get involved or get out! It does not take much time. heck me and ducks talk late last nite and throughout this morning, we could not agree but he made effort to get back to me as well as the usual cast of character. Hell my wife had another damn surgery Thursday but in between talking car eo f her, I am here because we have a responsibility to people here, to league and to Jon and Gavin to be available. My damn rant for day, yes I grumpy but I am damn tired. LOL
