It's 6 minutes not a couple of days later. I think you are really stretching this same rules thing a little far.
If it was a salary cap issue, sim settings issue or a major time after the deadline I would agree but six minutes seems like the kind of thing that we can let go in my opinion.

Unfortunate that the deadline had to be extended.
I understand why Jon and Gavin would do it to avoid the whinning though. Tough spot for them to be put in.

And allowing another late deal doesn't make it any better. Sorry, Ron. No reason to apologize Joe....I accepted the fact that my deal was not done, but when I the Florida one go up, I made a point that it should not and accepted the fact that Darren sent few mintes after 4 but ahead of Flor. I sent deal in at 2 something est, 2 hours before deadline. Like I said I was find it was not up for vote. Not major deal so it was not big thing. It was last few hour deal after talks crash just Darren did not get on early enough due to circumstance, but like I said I did not sweat it. Either way I was really good.

I seem to recall other years where deadline timing came into question and caused issues.
In future years, we should remember this and possibly simply have NO games on that day and have the deadline at midnight or something so that deals can be voted upon before the next day's games - or some alternate solution that makes sense.
I wasn't really close on any deals, but kind of gave up as the wire came down and realized wouldn't likely be enough time to get something done.
I don't find 6 minutes to be a big deal or anything; just would be better to avoid situations like this in the future if possible.

I posted in the shout box this morning that if you had a trade to go up and Gavin wasn't here, to PM me and I would call him. He has alot on his table of late, and was sleeping. You guys should take a look at that shout box once in awhile. In the future if you want an extension ask before the fact not after. I like Chris's idea above, sounds like a great idea.
I noticed that Joe and I have a pet - peeve about guys that post trade blocks and disappear, and have to be hunted down. I mentioned that a few weeks ago and Joe did today.

And allowing another late deal doesn't make it any better. Sorry, Ron. Joe, I just want to tell you are now a full fledge member of the grumpy old folks of the league with Ray is prez, I am vice prez and now we have an ambassador.....LOL....I was good not having my deal posted Joe, I was good with not having Flor deal not posted. Darren was busy and that is fine. I did not sweat it, I just believe if that flor deal was allowed that any other that came in around same time should have and actually my deal was in first....LOL..but knew Darren did not make it in time and that was fine! I am done with this, on to playoff discussions and what round I get beat and eliminated......LOL

We try to give you guys as much time as possible with the ability to put up trades before the cap increase even hits, but if having no games on the final day is what is needed we'll do it.

Yup, and if that doesn't work Gavin says he will trade all his best players for 5th rd picks, after the deadline.

I also think that would be a good solution. I can see why other teams might be a little annoyed that deals were allowed to be submitted after the planned deadline.

Well, for all this talk about Van and SJ having a deal they didn't have time for, the extra day didn't seem to matter. Makes me wonder why the fuss to begin with.

I don't think that's a fair or needed comment Gavin. I never said we had a guaranteed deal, I said we were negotiating and we discussions today as well, right up to the last few minutes. I also never asked for extra time. I just wanted everyone to have to honour the same trade deadline.

Don't bring me into that lol I never said anything about a deal. I think bringing that up is kind of side stepping the actual issue too. I'm just saying I can see why a rival team would be annoyed Florida was allowed to submit a trade after the official deadline. I don't think it's an unreasonable complaint either
