East Conference: Buffalo at Montreal Toronto at New Jersey Florida at Boston NYI at NYR West Conference: Anaheim at Vancouver Chicago at Detroit Minnesota at StLouis Calgary at San Jose Best of luck to all the teams vying for the cup. We could definitely see a first timer take the prize, as Joe, Kevin, James (Jim?), Gary and Ryan all have insane teams. Its nuts that in a year where we had more elite teams (and basement teams) than any other, parity at the top is actually at an all time high!

Eastern Conference:
Buffalo vs. Montreal
Good to see Jas and the Sabres back in the playoffs, but it's hard to pick against the Champs. Shawn has done a great job re-tooling his club for another run and has to be one of the favorites to win it all again. Ironically, this is the Sabres 3rd playoff appearance and on both previous occasions they were eliminated by Montreal in the 2nd round. Third time a charm? Maybe not. Pick: Canadiens in 5.
Toronto vs. New Jersey
Hard to choose between two of my favourite GMs. Eug and the Leafs we're "rebuilding" for the future but still managed to finish with 123 points. The Devils under Ron's leadership are back as contenders, led by a stingy defense and the goaltending of Corey Schneider. Drawing the Leafs isn't much of a reward for winning your division and this promises to be a tough series. Pick: Devils in 7.
Florida vs. Boston
All I can say is wow. Two of the top 3 or 4 teams in the league meeting in the first round. My good buddy Kevin did a miraculous job of rebuilding the Panthers, led by MVP candidate Sidney Crosby, but did suffer a late season swoon to finish 3rd in the ridiculously tough Atlantic Division. The Bruins under Jim have been one of the revelations of the 2014-2015 season, keeping pace with the Habs and Panthers to the end. As always in the playoffs, goaltending and home ice advantage might be the keys. Pick: Bruins in 7
Islanders vs. Rangers
A New Yorker's dream. Corey did a great job re-tooling the Islanders and setting themselves up for the future while still staying competitive. The Rangers had another solid year, despite long stretches of time where GM Graham didn't have reliable internet access. Anything can happen in a New York subway series and usually does. It will likely come down to which goalie - the Rangers' Holtby or the Islanders' Halak handles the playoff pressure best. Pick: Islanders in 7
Western Conference:
Anaheim vs. Vancouver
Al and the Ducks added to an already good core with several key in-season additions including Mats Zuccarello and Henrik Sedin. It all added up to a second consecutive 100-point season for Anaheim. Ben Bishop gives the Californians the goaltending to pull off an upset. The Canucks had a fair season, too. Pick: Too Close to Call
Chicago vs. Detroit
GM Ryan and his Winged-wheelers just got better and better as the season progressed, snatching the 2nd seed in the West from some really good teams. An all-world defense led by Weber and Doughty helps. After a couple of years as a league power, Gavin's Hawks took an intentional step back last year to re-tool for the future. They're still a tough match-up for anyone. Pick: Wings in 7
Minnesota vs. St.Louis
Gary got a career year from David Backes, helping the Blues contend for the Western Conference title all year long. Any team with Carey Price has a chance in a 7-game series. The Wild under GM Jeff were one of the hottest teams in the league the second half of the season with superstar Claude Giroux leading the charge. Pick: Blues in 6
Calgary at San Jose
In a clash of perennial JGHL powers, anything could happen. With Toews, Kane, Malkin and Bobrovsky Chris' Flames have the talent to beat anyone. It's a similar situation for Jake and the Sharks. Taveras, Stamkos and Voracek in the lineup means scoring goals won't be a problem. This series could come down to who has the hotter goalie. Pick: Flames in 7
Summary:
Eastern Conference:
Buffalo vs. Montreal - Montreal in 5 Toronto vs. New Jersey - New Jersey in 7 Florida vs. Boston - Boston in 7 NY Islanders vs. NY Rangers - Islanders in 7
Western Conference:
Anaheim vs. Vancouver - Too Close to Call Chicago vs. Detroit - Detroit in 7 Minnesota vs. StLouis - St. Louis in 6 Calgary vs. San Jose - Calgary in 7

LOVED the write up Joe.
I didnt realie FLA and BOS were playing in the first round. Just an illustration of why I hate the new NHL seeding format.
They should play the games as the do now, put the division winners in the top slots and go top 16 overall teams IMO
