I thought we were going to use morale this year, I wasn't super keen on it, but I wanted a large sample size to see how it would influence games first. Running test sims isn't going to prove anything either way, I could run 10 test sims and get back 10 different results. The test sims don't take into account line changes throughout a season, injuries, fatigue, backup goalies, line ice-times, suspensions etc... I posted a lot of info in regards to the impact of the feature to which you told me "TL;DR". We were either going to use it or not. When the thread was posted about possibly using it a few people gave their input and then the thread completed shifted to other subjects.

No, I read it, but I was not convinced it would not just make the best teams better. Tests would help show that.
I don't care so much about the individual results of each team. What I ultimately wanted to know was if the Morale of the top teams was super high and the morale of middle/low teams super low. I'm curious on how big the disparity is.

I'm curious on how big the disparity is. Test won't show that because the test mode is not run the same as it would be with GMs managing teams throughout a season and I'm not about to spend several hours manually simulating seasons and adjusting lines and rosters as a GM would. From my conversation on the STHS board... Me: One of the concerns is that using the morale option will just make the strong teams stronger and the weak teams weaker. I was hoping you could address that. Reply: No, from what I've seen in testings and seasons, morale give chance for poor teams to win games against the best teams. Using Morale is like gaging your random results that are impossible to set in engine 2.0. That is why I set morale at 15-20 for a minimum random impact but still an impact on the results. We've been through all of this before.

So don't, just run it with autolines all the time. I keep telling you the order isn't important.
Or just lets turn it on then.

Honestly I think this season has been going pretty well for the league. There is a perception among some GMs who think we should just hand the cup to one specific team right now, but when you look at the standings we have 12 teams with between 3-5 losses and 6 teams with +17-23 goal differentials. I think it shows that you do not necessarily need a team of all-stars to win in this league. Chemistry, managing lines, and team strategies are playing a massive role. That was well exemplified by Boston beating Montreal in the playoffs last year.
Anyways I just think this season has been great so far and will be interesting to follow.

I been saying that for the last few season's, that everyone is starting to get good at this, a big plus of an experienced league is stiff competition.

I really agree.. I think that GM's have really stepped up their game in terms of strategically managing their team and it's not as easy to get what you'd like in trades any longer without really giving something valuable up.. GM's are taking better care of their assets these days.. and that makes for more complex deals which aren't really out there right now.

Probably also has to do with the fact it's early on in the season, always less trades at the start as teams figure out what direction they want to go for the season. It'll pick up towards the trade deadline.

Appreciate all the input guys, and many of you made valid points. I do still think my message was lost in the shuffle. I don't care if no trades are made, that's not what I was advocating. What grinds my gears is when people simply ignore communications. Communication is the foundation of any online community, and when it fails, the entire community suffers. I've officially given up on certain GMs and will no longer be in contact with them, since they simply do not care to respond (or worse, are not even aware of the messages).
In my 13 years of being here, I have made an effort to respond to each and every message, even when they piss me off. Even when I'm waste deep in jobs or school work, I still log on and respond to any messages I have. It's called courtesy, and respect for your peers. Guess some don't take those concepts too seriously.
There's a good core of us here that yearn for a more exciting, engaging, vibrant league, especially for the next 13 years so that we don't have to worry about activity each and every season. For that to happen, we need buy in from each and every member of this league. Simple as that. My goal is not to call anyone out, I already did that with Rob. Just hope the message gets through.

Just a heads up. Gavin has a power outage from the bad weather, so he can't log-in to check if any trades were sent to him for now.
