I'm pretty proud to have given out 6 million+ to both Klingberg and Weber while they were seen as "prospects"/up and comers.
I'm not sure Panarin is worth more, but he will definitely get it given his ratings.

And you're right, his true value isn't that high especially after just one year.

Reminder:
- When signing players 29 and under from unassigned their minimum contract length will be based on salary for both a standard claim or a silent bid.....
$1,000,000 or less = Minimum 1 year deal $1,000,001 - $2,500,000 = Minimum 2 year deal $2,500,001 - $4,500,000 = Minimum 3 year deal $4,500,001 or more = Minimum 4 year deal

Agree he's the real deal, but signing a rookie to a max deal for 4 years can be costly. Imagine he gets hurt or has an off year. Oy vey

Assuming he is going to cost over 8 million per season... Is it really worth it? You can sign pretty much the best UFA every season for that to 1 year contracts and that comes with no risk.

Really you could just bid 10m for 1 year, then resign next year at the adjusted RFA rate with likely little risk involved.

Not according to bidding rules...see Jon's post as reminder of bidding rules.
