He maybe the most popular player in FA next season, with that new 5yr contract, only draw back is his love for himself.

People thought it was an over payment? lol, I'm thinking a 2nd is nothing for a solid 500K UFA. But taking a 2nd look, thought his ratings were much better. So it's a very fair deal.

The East is wide open this year in my eyes. I feel that one for sure. The weak UFA class plus the strength of the west really just makes me want to stand pat, use my picks and let my prospects marinate one more year. I do feel like I set myself back a year or two by going for it a little too early a couple of seasons ago. This has also made if difficult for me to create a block or just talk trades in general. At least defensively next years UFA class will be much better.

All 3 players that FLA got are expensive rentals.

None are above 6 mil, so not that expensive I would say. Just wanna make sure the cup stays in the East. Them west powerhouses think they're soooo cool, well take that for data.
Jokes aside, this gives Florida a legit window this season as the favorite. And also gives me something other than the inevitable prospect+2nd+3rd offers for these guys. Both Henrique and Tatar fit into my core's timeline. So I'm more than ok with this deal.

Guys, with this deal, I'm electing to go for it. I understand I need to get creative in some ways to figure this out, but I don't think it's impossible and I can always deal guys to make room... I guess I'd just like to understand why people are rejecting it so that I can get a bit more perspective. As far as Ray's comment is concerned, if any of these guys were in Free Agency, they'd all get 10 Mil.. I've gotten them for steals and you're talking about a top pairing and a top centre/right winger.
Help??

I think two GMs with experience should be able to make this deal.

I think giving up both Henrique and Tater, two good younger players might be a bit much for 3 UFAs but I passed it because it is two guys who been around and Florida wants to make a run at it this season so it has to cost him more than it should but good deal for both for what they want to do for now and future. Nice deal for Eug as he clears load of $$$ and gets two good solid players and nice deal for Kevin who wants to make a run at it!
With Florida it is one and done!

I pretty much never vote no and being the commish I try to never really comment on trades but this one I felt I had to do both.
Players like Pavelski, Suter and Seabrook with elite ratings always bring very, very nice returns when moved at the deadline. No matter how you break it down it really seems like a steal for Florida.
Henrique for either of the 3 is a bargain, Tatar for either of the 3 is a bargain, so is the 3rd elite player going back to Florida just a throw-in?
Toronto is not against the cap to re-sign their players so why the urgency to move them now for a 2nd and 3rd line player?
Like I said I can probably count on one hand how many times I've voted no since the start of the league, but with the talent being moved to Florida I just don't see how this is even close.

Ok time to chime in. Of course I'm aware that if I wait until the deadline, I would probably get decent packages for each or all 3. The issue is, while I sit and wait for someone to decide that they're going for it, and is interested in my UFAs, I'm going to probably win some games and be enticed to compete myself and hold on to the UFAs. This way, there is no doubt in my mind that I am finally divesting and taking a step back this year.
Second, I did NOT want picks or prospects for these guys. My core of Monahan, Kuz, Palat, Arvidsson, Toffoli, Ellis are all in their mid 20s. They're also all not rated at their peak but hopefully will be a year or 2 from now. So what return do I need? Guys in their mid 20s ish with lower ratings, that will hopefully get better ratings in a year or 2....... aka someone like Henrique and Tatar. Are they elite? No, but they fit my core and my needs going forward. I wouldn't ask for anyone else with them because end of the day, it's enough for 3 guys that are gone next year.

Just to add, the extra 11 mil in space gives me true cap flexibility for the first time probably ever. And Jon, if Henrique and Tatar were, say 70 OV, would you still say it's horrible? Because they're not that far off at 68 OV and I'm positive they can both get there as soon as next year. End of day it's 7-8 years of each guy playing a top 6 role in their respective teams. I'll take that any day of the week for 3 UFAs regardless of their ratings.

I just think it's a good deal for both teams going in different directions. Eug wants to retool, not rebuild... both guys are solid and are at amazing cap hits for the next little while. I add some firepower to a top heavy offense and I also for the first time in a long time.. Have a solid code of 5 dmen .. that I haven't had in a long while.
It's getting a bit tiring becoming the NHL San Jose Sharks where you're just a pretender ... with the talent I have, I should have made a cup final by now and we havent and it's dissapointing. We're trying to change that quite frankly.

That's just like saying if Pavelski, Suter and Seabrook were rated lower would it be closer? You gave up 3 elite players and got back 2 mediocre guys, I just don't see the math working out regardless of the years left on the contracts you traded away. Not to mention 2 of those guys are D which I feel holds a little more value as there are a lot more high powered forwards than defense in the league. I know you're a smart GM and always make good deals and get value in trades, but this just makes no sense. If I were Florida I'd be shitting my pants with joy over what I got back in return for what I gave up. He definitely owes you dinner or a BJ!
