Wennberg is the perfect compliment to Breadman, can set him up perfectly. Also CBJ was just outside the top 10 in Powerplay percentage, which could boost Panarin's number a bit. I think he will be just fine. Agreed. Though no Patty Kane obviously, Blue Jackets have plenty of talent to compliment the Breadman. The 10 mil contract and # of years is the anchor...all depends on how a GM wants to utilize cap space though and if one has enough cap friendly contracts in place, might be able to handle this salary and still ice a superior squad.

It's done but am I missing something with Ferland? Had the guy and he was nothing more than a glorified grinder that can jump on a scoring line here and there. Is there an upside that I'm not aware of?

Is there an upside that I'm not aware of? He's an intriguing lad. - had some off ice issues; with help of Brian McGrattan got back on track - has wicked shot - definitely has some skill - pegged as RW on Flames top line with Johnny & Mony (I'm not convinced he'll remain there all year long) - might actually be better suited to bottom 6 role to provide physicality and chip in with some scoring...

Also part of the Michael line Calgary had last year that were effective, and also all 3 guys had different spellings of the name Michael.

Fun fact: I may or may not be related to Ilya Sorokin. PS. Probably not.

Less fun fact...
Ilya Sorokin, top 3 Goalie prospect worldwide, signed a 3 year deal in the KHL, likely with no buyout clause.
Maybe Jon can fill us in as to why the isles wouldnt make it a priority to bring him over?

Like the trade. I had my eye on Quick, he should rerate very well. The Ducks got some goodies for him. Well done guys.

It was definitely a trade with 2018-2019 in mind. With Talbot struggling and now hurt, I was making a move to increase my chances of having a #1 guy next season. Gave up a couple of young assets, but if Quick keeps going it will be worth it.

This has definitely been a slow year on the trade front. We usually have some big ones swung, but everybody looooooves their players these days don't you.
