JT 2 TO!!!!
Like Flames subtle value signings.
GM GM impressing me with Stastny signing (Holden & Reaves, not so much for $$)
Sucks for NYI
Flyers land JVR!
Oilers...missed their 1 yr window last yr imo
Rutherford may be worse GM in the league (^next to Chiarelli). How does he get these jobs...
Bergevin (Habs): hold my beer.
Grabner wins Twitter
Sabres trending in positive direction.
Wings low risk, nice value signings
Not sure what Nucks are doing
Hawks had awesome draft. FA, not so much

And JT coming home feels like a slap in the face to Lou
Now quick question, was Lou the GM in Jersey when Parise bolted for his hometown of Minnesota?

WOW - Buffalo did not want to get outdone by Toronto
Ryan O'Reilly traded to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a 1st round pick in 2019, 2nd in 2021, Tage Thompson, Vladimir Sobotka and Patrick Berglund
Big haul for Buffalo, and they don't have to pay the 7.5 mil bonus ROR was due today

RoR gets NHL Sabres a haul from the Blues akin to what JGHL Isles got from Flames in our deal : )

*Hope JGHL JT doesn't read the JGHL forum while playoffs still happening : )
{Apologies Jon - can't imagine how brutal it must have been when JT did not sign with Isles as of last night. Had to know then he was moving on and TO was obvious landing point. It SUCKS. Simply put. NOT to get ANYTHING in return for of the premiere superstars in hockey. That's just irresponsible AND inexcusable on management's part. Not even bringing in Lou this offseason got it done. I actually thought it would prior to JT announcing he was meeting with 5 teams [+ Isles]. Tavares earned the right, but I think it really sets a franchise like the Isles back. They looked like they had some good things cooking prior to this. An awesome draft. Some great offseason management changes. Bailey. Barzal! A keeper, some D help, retaining JT and they could have been heading in the direction of NYI glory days that were happening when I was a whipper snapper and clung on to my first hockey man crush - one Mike Bossy! Now, there's a lot of work to be done, Lou.)

^Was going to add I don't want to see the NHL turn into the NBA either...
LeBron now to the Lakers today. One effed up day in sports.
Now, I know Leafs fans around here must be super pumped and I can't blame them given what Leaf nation has been thru since '67. (all my family (father, grandfather, etc, etc growing up were Leafs fans - I diverted, as I tend to do, as I grew up in the 80s when all my friends jumped on the Oilers band wagon - I decided to pull for their rivals, the lesser (at the time) Flames)

As someone who's been stabbed in the heart by Vince Carter, my heart goes out to ya Jon. On Friday read a reddit post about his wife possibly getting a job in Toronto so that's when I thought this could be for real. But he sure kept everyone guessing.
Great gets for both JVR and Bozak. Good luck boys, you will be missed. Not you though, Polak.

The Flyers decided to rectify a bad trade from years ago by bringing back their favorite Pigeon...

Is it me or was the RoR trade was a massive win for the Blues? Don't know much about Tage Thompson but the 1st will be low and the rest is filler/salary dumps.

Sabres, Knights and Flames have been busy! Definitely got better especially the Flames I think! Unreal offseason for the Flames, and I'm usually cynical about this squad. I tweeted this: #TrustInTreliving: #Flames GM having quite the offseason. ↔️Hamilton 4 Hanifin/Lindholm deal @ #NHLdraft 🎯Two nice quality, very reasonable signings yesterday in Derek Ryan & Austin Czarnik. 🔥Then to land The Real Deal James Neal, of the prized UFAs out there! Legit sniper. then looking at potential lines #Flames Lines FORWARDS Johnny Gaudreau - Sean Monahan - James Neal Matthew Tkachuk - Elias Lindholm (C/RW) - Sam Bennett (C/W) Mark Jankowski (C/W) - Mikael Backlund - Austin Czarnik Curtis Lazar (C/W) - Derek Ryan (C/RW) - Michael Frolik Next in line: Brouwer - Mangiapane - Foo DEFENSE Mark Giordano - T.J. Brodie Noah Hanifin - Travis Hamonic Brett Kulak - Michael Stone Dalton Prout First call-ups: Marcus Högström - Rasmus Andersson GOALIES Mike Smith Jon Gillies David Rittich *Could see Lindholm as #1 RW, Backlund moving back up to 2C, Neal to RW2 or even RW3 if they want to spread out scoring. **Ryan offers flexibility as well and likely starts as 3C (above is what I would do)

ROR is an acceptable 2nd line C, but that it. They gave up a 1st and 2nd plus another former 1st rounder who projects as a great checking line forward who should be able to chip in 40 pts if he hits his stride. Sobotka and Berglund are both servicable 3rd liners, but im assuming they are paid too much to be. While this deal passes no problem in the J, in the NHL trading 1st rounders is a big deal.

ROR is the real deal. Playing along side someone like Tarasenko could put him to the next level. I think the price was just right for him. Tage Thompson isn't a bad prospect, there just wasn't any room for him in St. Louis. He will get his chance now with Buffalo.
