So I voted pass on #7 here and wondering why others are rejecting it. Probably because Barzal has the ratings already and is by all signs looks like a star. I passed because thought Middlestad is going to be a beast ever since watching him in juniors, and then add 1st and 2nd. Also think Barzal really benefitted from playing with Tavares, so remains to be seen if he can perform without, and also with a pretty weak supporting cast. It's possible ppl rejecting just don't know much about Middlestad, and don't like that it's Vancouver 1st which is 22nd..

Barzal now becomes the 1c on his team, and he already has the ratings, and could have the potential to go higher.
Casey is good but Eichel is there, he's young, ratings aren't there just yet.
I mean I just don't get why Barzal would be a piece you would want to part with no matter what. Might not be a reason enough to veto it, but I get a vote, and If I am Detroit, I don't do that.

You definitely have a good point there. It actually didn't hit me how good his rookie numbers were at first. This might be the first time in a while where I need to rethink my vote...

Maybe Hunter expects his numbers to drop off without JT in the lineup? I certainly wouldn't expect a repeat performance. Barzal, statistically, is just a setup man, and a setup man without a sniper to go with him....typically drop off the map /shrug.

Now you're making me rethink my rethinking.

He could think that Casey and the picks are a higher value overall than Barzal. This is the definition of selling high.

Brazal is gonna be a great player. But without JT I don't think he has a cast to succeed as well as he did last season. I figured I could wait for middelstadt to flourish with dahlin, and eichel and he would be just as good in a couple seasons when the rest of my team is ready to compete. Plus the picks stocks up my prospects even more.

No question he can always flip Middelstad and the picks for another solid player. This one is a doozy, 85 points for a 20 year old rookie you gotta think the raw talent and star potential is there. They got a young team but he'll get all the ice time he can handle. I'm changing my vote to abstain until taking a deeper look at Middlestad

Barzalโs success had nothing to do with Tavares, quite the opposite really. The only impact of Tavares leaving is now Barzal is the #1 center, the secret is out, and teams will be keying on him more.
