The last few years have been underwhelming for this organization, with a series of early playoff exits. After the recent stretch it's clear that it's time for a new voice and a new vision. As of today, Monday, January 28th 2019, with a heavy heart we'd like to announce the termination of head coach Ted Nolan. Ted has been with the franchise since day one, and we thank him for his service. Claude Lemieux of the Avengers farm team has given his resignation, as he will follow Ted to Poland where they've been offered to coach the national team. Best of luck Ted and Claude, you will never be forgotten.
With that, we're excited to announce the hiring of Peter Laviolette as the second head coach in franchise history. Joining him down on the Avengers will be Paul Maurice, who is thrilled to work with some of the younger players. The message going forward is 1) organizational development, 2) defensive accountability, and 3) high end skill. Welcome aboard Peter and Paul!
There's also been rumblings that fans are calling for a step back this season, begging the team not to sell young players for immediate help. Management has heard their calls, and believes it may be wiser to compete next season, as many players are set up to improve their ratings skills. If that is indeed the direction, then it's natural to think older players would be made available on the trade market. Whatever happens, management is confident in its younger core and understands it may take a little longer to put everything together.
Reporting live from the ACC, Kristen Shilton.

Wow. Big news out of the Leafs organization. The Penguins organization gives Ted and Claude their best, and we know that they will land on their feet soon enough!
Meanwhile, sources say GM Mike Senske have invited Ted and Claude out to lunch. Could they be discussing strategies and insights on the Maple Leafs organization? Guess we will find out!

We'd like to welcome Adam Pelech to the Leafs organization. He may not be overly skilled, he may not move the puck much, and he may not be the true upgrade we need. What he is is a tough, truculent Toronto boy, who will help solidify the top 4 and should be a slight upgrade over struggling Sami Vatanen.
Welcome Adam, and try not to shit the bed with the 20 minutes you're about to get every game.

Thank you for gathering on this snowy Wednesday morning. As you've all seen by now, we have made a trade to bring in some additional help on the blue line and in net. We'd like to thank Mike Smith for his 4 months of service, and wish him well the rest of the season in Anaheim. Also like to extend best wishes to Joonas, Marco, Sami, and team captain Andy Greene.
With the departure of Greene, this now leaves a leadership void and calls for a new captain. With that, we'd like to announce Ryan Ellis as the team's new captain. Wearing the A will be Sean Monahan, and Nate Schmidt. For better or worse the leadership onus is now fully on the team's younger core.
With that we'd like to welcome a few familiar faces back to the Leafs organization and also a new one. Fleury is coming off a career season, and should surely be an upgrade over Mike Smith's 0.882 % and 2.92 GAA. The Nisk is also back for another run, and should bring added stability to the team's top 4. In Janmark, we get a young, somewhat underachieving two way forward, who still has lots of room for growth.
The hope is that the team can continue to compete this season and possibly make a deep playoff run. There are a few upper echelon teams out there, but we feel there's now enough depth at all positions to withstand an attack and fight back on the score sheet. That said, the Leafs will still be looking to upgrade at forward before the deadline.
Thank you for your time and stay warm.
