Obligatory apology once again for commenting on a trade with a strong opinion mid vote; not the first time and likely won't be the last. As always I'm not out to make either of the GMs look bad, just focusing on pieces involved and the actual deal. Both Mike and Joe are champions and obviously know what they're doing.

You can't vote on your own trades, and I would guess that Pitt and Van both voted to pass. That means the current count is actually 4-Pass/10-Reject.
Joe and Mike, when you get a chance please retract your votes so it properly reflects the actual vote count.

Yeah, this trade is pretty awful, 80/20...maybe 70/30 level of awful.
That 1st round pick is worth maybe one of those guys, the 2nd isn't worth any of them, and Comtois isn't anything special as far as I can tell. 21 year olds who get sent BACK to the AHL mid-season, are usually done. Name me another 21 year old who got sent back to the AHL mid-way through the season, that came back and was amazing enough to be a top 6-foward. Dude has "career 4th line grinder" written all over him.
Vancouver would need to basically double the picks/prospects going back to Pittsburgh to make this even close.

I agree with your assessment of the trade, but there are probably dozens of active NHL players who got sent down to the AHL in the NHL in their rookie NHL season (or around the age of 21) who went on to have very successful NHL careers. Itβs actually not uncommon at all. On the Flames recent rosters alone, since this is really the only team I follow closely- - Off the top of my head on the flames current roster Giordano (yes the Norris trophy winner), Mangiapane, Dube, Kylington - Past flames like Mike Cammalleri, Craig Conroy, Jiri Hudler, and Marc Savard fall into the category as well. Just saying Comtois could definitely turn out to be a good player.

I dunno what part of the year those games came in, but its still not a good sign, plus his numbers overall haven't been at all impressive, but I dunno what sorta minutes he is getting, my assumption would be, not that much though. I think he could project, best case, 2nd liner for a few years until he starts to slow down (as power forwards usually do).

For the record, Comtois is a fine young forward prospect. He made the Ducks sooner than anybody anticipated. Some prospect ranking services I've seen him rated like 7th of all forward "prospects". Dude is 21 yo. *** There ya go, Joe, some marketing of Mad Max, for ya. *** I did vote "No" on the trade as well, though - no offense to Joe or Mike, who both know their sh!t. Was hoping they could just rework it a tad to even things out.
Know what it's like to be on the end of a vetoed trade - kind of leaves a sour taste in your mouth... Chin up, fellas - fire back up those trade lines!
