On the Peters front, they are saying on Twitter, that the Players told GM Ron Francis about it, and that he did not do anything about it...
I wonder if that will hurt his job with the new Seattle team???

Honestly not to beat the conspiracy drum, but it's looking more and more like there's an old boys club in hockey that's been protecting their own for years from any wrong doing.
Obviously this isn't exclusive to hockey as we've seen it exposed in Hollywood, politics, catholic church, etc. I guess it's just disappointing that it's happening in my favorite sport/past time. Suddenly I don't hate Marchand as much as before, there's worse rats out there.

Scott - to say it's one demotion might be putting it lightly. If he experienced racism, bullying, and then got buried in the farm system, I'm sure that would have a deep effect on his psyche going forward. An older example is Patrick O'Sullivan, it's a sad story so look it up if you don't know. The guy had all the skill in the world but could not overcome the mental battery he took over the years. These guys are 18-19 year old kids as rookies. Development at that age is shaped by everything around them, and if a coach is purposely stalling it or worse, it that could have permanent damage. I feel for all these guys. As far as the Babcocks and Peters of the league, truthfully they're no better than someone like Graham James. I don't want to seem to be attacking the guy but he never really showed much skill to start with and then never showed much skill after. When a guy is not very skilled it seems like a big stretch to say that a demotion hurt his career when it is clear that he just wasn't good enough. That doesn't make what happened to him any less acceptable or mean there werent real negative effects for him just that he wasn't on his way to a great career and this derailed it he didn't have the talent and that is what derailed his career. O'Sullivan is different as with him you could see the natural talent that he had. His abuse was also much more long term as well. I am not sure he would have been amazing either but you could see that it wan't a lack of talent holding him back like it was with Aliu.

Aliu just wasn’t an NHL caliber player. I’m sure Peters didn’t help his goals, but blaming Peters for sinking his career is a stretch IMO.
Peter’s conduct is inexcusable though. The Flames just seem to be building a case to fire him without severance right now.
What’s going on with Darryl Sutter Eug? Do I need to fire him??

What’s going on with Darryl Sutter Eug? Do I need to fire him?? It's all developing as we speak but a few other ex-NHLers like Dan Carcillo have come out with stories from WHL and Kings days, involving the Sutters. I don't want to talk out of my ass right now, so will wait until more official (and corroborated) reports come out. Let's just say the flood gates are open around the league and no one is safe.

This is what's officially out there right now: "Daniel Carcillo, a former NHL enforcer who played 26 games for the Kings during the 2013-14 season, said on Twitter he saw then-coach Darryl Sutter “kick someone in the lower back on the bench.” Added Carcillo: “What he did to Matt Greene in front of the entire room before a team meeting when he had a concussion was absurd.” Carcillo also said Sutter used profanity in addressing a female flight attendant because “he wouldn’t let us eat after a bad loss.” Carcillo also tweeted a photo of a junior team’s rookie party, with players faces obscured, and said that underage drinking, and physical, verbal and sexual abuse took place at the event and were reported to the Western Hockey League and to Hockey Canada, which ignored it “bc it involved the Sutter name.” Brent Sutter, one of six Sutter brothers who played in the NHL, owns the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL." The kind of conduct we are talking about was judged on a different standard before. Boys will be boys was acceptable until 2 years ago... or if not acceptable, it was enough to stop people from getting fired. But standards are changing and people are being held to account for the shitty things they do to other people. And just like in hollywood, heads will roll.

Those allegations against Sutter really just have me shrugging my shoulders.
Used profanity to tell a female flight attendant now to serve dinner? I mean that’s impolite but doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.
Kicking someone in the lower back? I guess that would depend on how hard, but I see NHL players do worse things on a weekly basis.
And the underage drinking at a WHL event is about as surprising as Sutter using profanity.
So far none of those allegations seem like they should gain traction? Am I off base here?

And if sexual abuse occurred at that party, I’d probably put the blame the blame on the players, rather than on a coach who probably wasn’t even at the party....

Maybe it is because of how much I love Darryl and the grudging respect I have for Brent as the coach of a rival (Red Deer Rebels) but the Carcillo stuff seems like a stretch to connect them to the issue today.
There could be a lot more to come out but based on Carcillo's vague garbage there isn\t much reason to lump them in with what is happening now.
