With the spread of the COVID 19 we should discuss league policy about any contingencies or disaster recovery. What are we doing to protect our players and personnel?
All kidding aside, how are our south of the border mates doing with all the public concerns? It's lukewarm here in Toronto, but reading about parts of the US has me thinking it's not exactly being contained.

It's lukewarm here in Toronto, but reading about parts of the US has me thinking it's not exactly being contained. I am not stressing about it although washing the hell out of my hands when I do go out and using purell, being in 60s I am in the older part of who gets really sick but feel I am healthy enough to beat its ass! But do best not to get it as well as wife. My oldest son is in training for Homeland Security so he needs to wash often as guys and ladies do not live on base so that could be a positive. If people get sick or come in contact with someone who is, then they should stay home and watch March Madness which I am going to do anyway and hockey as playoffs are right around the corner! There are a few cases in my county down here in NC but none in my town yet or we know of! Besides I say Fuck the Corona bitch while also hoping those that get sick, recover from it!

Right on coach! Stay safe man, hope that number in your county stays at 2. I don't easily panic but on the subway daily and more people are starting to wear face masks (not just people from a certain part of the world). There was a suspected case this week in a nearby building and they shut down the entire floor and sent everyone home.
Also hearing live updates from a friend who's a doctor in NY hospital isn't helping lol. We're at 36 cases in Ontario, if I see that number start growing exponentially, I'm driving north to Nunavut cause ain't no virus is surviving there. Tell you this, if NHL or NBA chooses to shut down or play in empty arenas, that's when my panic meter will rise.

But was listening to Lebron and I like him, but he said he could not play in empty arena, so the NBA will not let reporters in lockers but it is OK to cram fans in seat 2 inches apart for him and other complaining about possibility of no fans!

Well, it looks like the NBA has canceled/postponed the rest of the season, as one of its players tested positive to the corona...
Although the NHL said tonight, after the NBA's cancelation, it would NOT cancel its season, there is an apparent meeting scheduled for tomorrow between the NHL, te Owners, the NHLPA and a few others, to discuss what to do next. I fear that it will not be to long before they follow the same route as the NBA.
I also fear that the NCAA, might do the same about the March madness, if things do not get any better. In a NON sport related news, Tom Hanks has revealed that his wife and him both have the corona virus and they are currently in Australia.

Was gonna post something last night but none of it feels real so I just wanted to pass out. I'm 99% sure NHL will be suspending too, and I'm supposed to go to the Leafs game tonight against the Preds (my two fav teams). Sports being shut down around the world is disturbing, somehow that's what makes this pandemic feel real for me. Markets are free falling, there's some talks of closing public transit. I'll see you guys underground!

I used to believe that Corona was something you smoked, or made blunts out of.

Strange times, fellas.
I was supposed to speak at a conference in Toronto in early April, but it will be cancelled. (I was speaking on poppies {opioids}, weed {cannabis, of course, medicinally} ad therapuetic psychedelics {mushrooms!} in cancer patients)
Funny thing is (i used to be on the executive of the national association throwing the conference) I had to send them a bunch of stats, info, interpretations as they were planning to go ahead with conference as of noon yesterday. President of association messaged me one hour after our conversation that, yeah, >95% probability of cancelling. It was just before all the real crazy info started dribbling out yesterday (WHO pandemic declaration, then NBA news, etc, etc)...I was like WTF are you people thinking...lol

Cancellation of large group gatherings actually makes sense in preventing/ slowing the viruses spread at least.
Wish I could say the same about banning travel from Europe.... canβt stop a disease at the border that is already widespread.

The whole world is falling apart! I went to Walmart the other day and it was a freakin' madhouse! Everyone was buying cases and cases of toilet paper, water and hand sanitizer. I understand the sanitizer, but why the rush on toilet paper and water lol? Not to mention, if you buy up ALL the sanitizer then what about everyone else, you'll be the only one with clean hands lol! It definitely sucks about the hockey season, but at least the Islanders can't lose anymore games

Looks like the JGHL is the only sports-related entertainment we will have for the foreseeable future. We could see an increase in trade activity with GMs having less "real" aports to watch and follow.

It's really nuts here too! My daughter's school got closed and the are making my wife and all her fellow employees work from home now. This just happened here in Detroit, Michigan. All schools and universities are closed at least until April 6th. Yesterday was 2 confirmed cases, and today the number is 12. Yesterday we had 200 people that were referred to testing, today we have 554. I work at the Detroit Zoo, and we are talking about shutting down to the public even though 95% of our venue is outside. It's a weird time man. The worst part is when we are inevitably told that we are quarantined to our homes, that I won't have hockey to watch at night.

The cat's already out of the bag, but only thing to do now is cancel/shut down everything to prevent any more spread. China and South Korea are now at the point where there's more recoveries than new cases. That's the ultimate goal for US and any other hot zone right now.
Testing is key and from what I hear very few people are being tested across US, so they simply don't know that they're carrying it. Next few weeks will certainly be crucial. Hoping CDC sets up drive-in test centers similar to what South Korea did, and that people isolate as much as possible.
