Hopefully this Twitter link works, but man what an announcement today by the NHL. Not one lottery, but 2 of them! (Maybe) 24 teams getting a shot at the playoffs, hope your team made it in!
Red Wings looking more and more like they are drafting 4th overall.
If you read more about it, let me know what you like and what you don't like!

I have already said that I hate the 24 team play-off format. That did not change at all with this announcement.
With it looking like it is going through I can say on a personal note I hope the Flames are eliminated in 3 straight. It is the only (and I admit it is a slight) chance the team has of doing a major rebuild or retool, plus they can get a lottery pick which they desperately need.
However knowing them they will fluke out a 5 game win against Winnipeg, likely with Win getting a few injuries to swing the series, then lose to St. Louis in 5 games. Management will point to the one win against St. Louis and the wacky Covid format as indications that they should keep the same team together that has repeatedly shown it is not good enough. They will waste the first round pick on somebody who will never make it, make a stupid FA signing, continue to think that Rittich is the answer in goal no matter how much he tries to to show he isn't. and pump up some garbage narrative that under Ward the team was showing signs of being a top team. If there is a tiny sample size of cherry picked games they can use to justify this they will pump the hell out of that ignoring what every fan that watched the team under Ward saw and that is that he sucks.
But other than that it should be great!
In all honesty I doubt I watch. I have been desperate to watch sports again but have no interest in the garbage format they are coming back with. I guess the team that wins can say they won the Cup and me saying it doesn't matter means jack squat.

So, if one of those lettered teams happens to win the lottery by flu, but they are going to be 100% determined by events that occur in the future, wouldn't that mean teams could aim for a particular seed on purpose?
Like what if team c won first overall?

Like what if team c won first overall? Now maybe Pitts will not mind playing MTL in the first round, they could end up with Lafreniere, the air to Cindy... Personally, I don't like it. The only teams that should be involved in the lottery, are the one NOT making the playoffs. So they should stick to a 16 team playoff, top 8 seads of each conference, like it has been; they even kept that format when there was a shorten season due to a lockout, so this is not different
