Man, Brad Richardson and JGHL Free Agency. Don't. Ever. Change. {Can't wipe the smile off my face...} 86 DEFENSE MAN I'm a big role player believer.

A Richardson-Bonino-Acciari line would probably break the simulator.

86 DEFENSE MAN I'm a big role player believer. Me too, but thats a lot to spend on a penalty killer. Definitely higher than what I wanted to bid, and one more bid by Buffalo and I lose him, but 86 defense is crazy for a forward. Only Acciari has a higher DF rating for a forward.

PUBLIC Apology/Self-shaming!!
Gah! Totally goofed on not letting Jon know (I submitted trade, Ron agreed, so on me!) that Nolan Patrick was "Under Contract" (new GMs {and gentle reminder for us "old-timers}: if you haven't encountered this, you can see it on your team page (i.e. from main page, click on team logo, then 2nd blue hyperlink is indeed "Under Contract" to the lift of "cap hit" - well, I think it's blue - I am colour blind!).
I'm usually anal about ensuring I highlight if someone is a RFA (though I think I missed my first submission of my first trade this offseason too!) - the "under contract" thing was totally admittedly off my radar/consideration. DOH! (of course, I should have thought of it as Nolan played games the season before the return to play.)
Totally my bad and sorry my main man, Jon - definitely not wanting to cause more work/headaches for ya!
I'm accepting of any and all punishments: - maybe 5 speedster flying elbows from hockey's newest speedy goon - Connor McElbow!?
Seriously though, my apologies.

Ok I think the fairest punishment is you have to give everyone a draft pick....you do have enough to cover this and then some

Unassigned claims is one of my favorite times of the year - mostly because I'm always watching and never participating

No one has done it thus far (that I know of...), but just a reminder not to combine your unassigned claims with any other message to me, like a trade, or a question, cause I leave them "unread" until its time to process them so I'm less likely to miss any.

(Budget cuts here in Calgary - Ayres will also be on purple gatorade duty)

Lots of people making this mistake already:
From the rules:
"- If you are claiming a goalie who is listed with a two-year contract, and you are the only team who submits a claim for that goalie, you will get him with the two years. If a goalie listed with a two-year contract must receive a silent bid, you are then allowed to designate the contract years in your bid, based on Free Agency rules under the age guidelines for contracts."
It should really say "Player" instead of "Goalie", I think Jon just put Goalie as an example, not to apply only to goalies, but people are listing 3 year contracts on players with 2 years already, etc. You can only increase contacts during silent bidding.

No, it's only for goalies. For forwards you can claim them for as many years as you want (within the rules), but players already listed with 2 years (like Kubalik) that is the minimum contract length based on their salary showing on the unassigned list.

Okay, my mistake, I thought the contract years were set in stone unless it went to bidding for some reason
