I really liked the JVR for Schenn trade from the Leafs perspective. Schenn was just another player the Toronto media overhyped.
Anyways, back on topic!
I think this trade is a franchise changer for Florida (in a good way). He added 5 great young players (Alzner, Gardiner, Hodgson, 4th overall pick, and likely another top 10 pick) for Toews, while dumping salary. Hemsky is a long shot at best now. Rattie is far from a sure thing... every team has prospects like him (except for me haha). Florida's defense is basically set for years to come with Gardiner, Alzner, Fowler, Letang, Vlasic and whoever is chosen in this years draft. I'm pretty damn jealous.
When I compare that return to what I got for Staal last season (Landeskog, Okposo and Berglund); I think I have increase my asking price for star players!

Well - Kev (Panthers) got his mission accomplished. Tough price to pay, but got a good one in Halak for reasonable price and he's still young. Nice deal on both sides.

Nice little package of goalies. Halak still has a chance to be a number 1 in St. Louis.

Pretty good deal for Halak IMO. Even though Elliot had an amazing season, I still see Halak as the #1 guy in St. Louis.
I like what Kevin has done with his team over the last week, but I'm still upset he allowed me to trade him Lupul and Burrows for Hemsky and Bailey.

LOL...from a guy that's clearly one of the better GM's here and a former Stanley cup winner..... I'll take that as a compliment

Calgary unloading 12m in salary. Well, don't know if this is going to make you feel better, but the Ducks are not planning to pursue any UFA this time around...

Wow good move for Chris to dump salary especially Green this season but if green makes a comeback this coming season, it could turn into a great move for Habs as they look into future.

Chris payed a huge price to drop that salary... I would have given up Nashville's 1st alone for Barrie! It needed to be done though.
