Calgary unloading 12m in salary. Well, don't know if this is going to make you feel better, but the Ducks are not planning to pursue any UFA this time around... That does make me feel better

Chris payed a huge price to drop that salary... I would have given up Nashville's 1st alone for Barrie! It needed to be done though. Yeah - honestly would rather have not been in the situation, but hand was forced. Glad to have some breathing room now. Guess I should be getting prepared for a Blackhawks & Predators invasion during FA.

Actually salary is a big issue for the Ducks, he is just one of the many of us that have alot of RFA's to sign. You think Nick Schultz and Pavelec are gonna cost him that much to resign? Maybe maybe not... I expect that of the two, Pavelec will cost me the most... I'm simply trying to prevent... If they don't cost em much, then I have money for others FAs; and I could try to sign a replacement for Fleischmann at a possibly lower salary...

Completely missed it when it was posted, but great trade for the Jets. A 3rd/2nd liner at best and a third rounder for a legit first line player coming off a great year. I'm a big fan of what's happening in Florida and Fleischman is a good guy to own for the next little while. Thumbs up Billy!

Good trade for both, for what they are tryin to achieve with their teams. Nice salary dump for the Ducks decent talent in return.

Saw someone voted to reject the polak/zajac trade, was wondering why?

I actually did but not for bad reasons or anything! Polak is a good kid and all, but despite his injury history the past couple seasons I think Zajak is worth more in the long run. If he returns to the form he had in 2008 thru 2010 it's a very lopsided trade if you ask me. Polak isn't an offensive threat, or eats up alot of minutes. He's not a very integral player on the Blues blue line, whereas Zajac has a bit more importance especially now that Parise is gone. Nothing a draft pick or propect coming back with Polak couldn't fix. I just don't see it as a straight up deal. Sorry! Just being honest!

You should be far from being sorry, thats a damn intelligent response.
I thought Zajac's current ratings and his injury risk evened it out, but thats just a difference of opinion.

I think Vancouver got a hell of a steal. Zajac was hurt most of last year, but prior to that he went 4 straight seasons playing all 82 games. So there is no real "injury history" to speak of. Twice he has broken 60+ points.
Polak is defensive defenseman who didn't even score a goal last year.
Its close to reject worthy, but not close enough.

I agree Vancouver may have gotten a pretty good deal, but things to note: 1) Zajac is worthless to me this season and I want to contend. 2) I need to either use my resign on Quick or Zajac. Compensation for Zajac is only a 2nd rounder. I could easily have seen a 4 million dollar bid, and really would have had no choice but match it. 3) Zajac had 45 points his last season without Parise. He hasn't scored over 60 for two years. 4) Polak is actually pretty good. Gavin could probably have used him

Solid value for Vancouver getting Zajac, who should finally see a bounce back season after a strong playoffs, but its not a bad deal for SJ either considering he's pretty thin on D without much money to spend on FA. Makes sense from both sides.
