Can't pass the Howard trade... a starting goalie for a late first and 2nd isn't even close IMO.

have to second jakes thoughts there. If the first was a top 5 pick maybe. but the 19th?
Thats well below 60-40
more like 79-21
EDIT: I see why you wanted to get rid of howard, but at least put him on the block!

As Jon said, he was on the block. It's a salary dump and I passed it and don't really see any reason to reject it. Boston picks up a decent back-up with a 77 OV and cheap and 2 decent picks. JMO

Canucks needed a goalie. Bruins needed cap room and had another #1 in Lehtonen. Bruins advertise Howard was available. Canucks submit best offer. Why would this deal be vetoed?

Its not the best he could get, but he needs the cap space and Howard is expendable on his roster.
Deal makes perfect sense if you ask me. Howard could have a really bad year (assuming there is one), gotta remember Detroit is now hurting defensively as a team with the subtraction of Lidstrom.

Don't have a problem with the Howard deal. The guy makes 5.4 million and gonna be an RFA. His rating isn't that great too. Not the best picks but still enough to pass.

I wouldn't have given that much for Howard. Like brodeur (let the argument begin!) Howard's success was the product of detroits system. Wait until luongo, Thomas or kipper goes to Motown. Howard will be an after thought.

It's supply & demand folks. Howard went on the block & Bruins in a situation where he HAD to move him pretty much. I thought he got more than fair return given the urgency in the situation. Good hockey deal.

Good hockey deal. Thanks.. You nailed. He would play 1/5 games for me and take up over 5 million in salary. I actually like Howard a lot but he is wasted on my team. Only one team showed true interest and we hammered out a deal over several days. I really wanted the 9 pick but he wouldn't budge. Deal makes sense for both teams.

The 9th pick would have made the deal fair. I guess we all have to take a hit occasionally when the cap forces a trade.

I have to say, its my fault for commenting on this deal. I was away for a week, and didnt see that Howard had been put on the block. When you do that, and you take the best offer you get, I cant fault you. Sorry about that.

His ratings are not spectacular and he has only one good season under his belt. Is he the 0.940 goalie from last year or the 0.893 goalie from the year before?
