It seems a lot of the new ratings packages, as well as the ones we're waiting for, are only including players who actually played at least one game in the NHL last season. Unlike the DVHL who would keep players around for several seasons deducting their ratings, that doesn't seem to be the case for what is available to us. What that means is that you might see certain players "vanish" from your roster and appear on your prospects list. Players who did not play 1 game in the NHL last season, for example, players like Radulov, Esche, Emery, Nagy, Jagr etc... I will be keeping track of these players and should they ever return to the NHL and once again get rated, they will then be placed back on your team to complete their remaining contract terms.
So please be aware of this if you are considering trading for certain players, I strongly advise waiting to see if they are included in the ratings we will be using!

That means they won't count against the cap while prospects, correct?

That could lead to problems as well....a contender will most likely be near the cap and having a high profile prospect all of a sudden be added is like adding 5-8 mil to your salary.

Prospects don't have salaries, ever. I have 2 0n my prospect list Bonvie and Bure who were once on my team with salaries. Now they have no salary. You don't have to pay for guys you can't use.

5 yr. signings don't matter cause their contracts get suspended regardless. So he could stay on your prospect list longer then the contract. You are right though long contracts lengthen the odds of him on your team when he hits the prospect list.

Jon is preparing us for the fact that alot of us will lose players from our farms to our prospect list, because they played either somewhere else or not at all, if they are still under contract. Not bad for dumping salary ( for now} and being able to keep them if they return to the NHL.

I'm not sure I understand your concern on this. They would be added back to your team during the offseason if they played in the NHL the year prior, so it's not like you'd take a cap hit during the season or playoffs. Plus, once they get put back on your team there is nothing that says you have to keep them.

What i meant was that Jagr for example if he was signed to a 3-4 year deal at 10 mil - He's not in the new re-rates and is created into a prospect - all of a sudden he's created - wouldn't you have to activate him? Therefor you'd have to make room to for his salary....

But it would be during the offseason, and you always have the option of trading or dropping within the rules if you didn't want to keep them once they came back. I see no other way around it, and I don't think it would be fair to just flat "lose" a player, and then not retain their rights if and/or when they came back.
