Bouwmeester has probably the best wheels other than niedermayer for a d-man.
hooray for regher playing well in the world cup. He's too slow and wasnt able to keep up with the faster players on the bigger ice surface. world cup, wasnt that in 04? And now its 06. I wouldnt name him in the top 5 of best defensive d-men though.

I'm a big Reg Wings fan I'm very proud of Pavel Datsyuk and the Sweden team of Lindstrom,Zetterberg,Holmstrom, Samuelsson. They will meet in the Gold medal game I hope it's worth watching so you Canadian guys might hate this comment but I just want to see good hockey.

I think this is just an Oiler fan that has a hate on for Regehr. There were 4 or 5 other defensemen that were just as bad or worse. Heres a nice stat from McCabe. I don't know how Leaf fans think he's a Norris contender. 0 points, -3, 18 PIM

umm well im from TO, and really no one here thinks he really deserves it,... BUT the norris voting is always skewd by points and goals, rarely does the best defensive defenceman win, they prefer skill point producing guyd, mccabe will get some votes, but its also a weak year as far as that one stand out guy.... so theres always a chance i guess
who would you vote for norris?

As a fan of the game and no real like or dislike for any of the players who played d for Canada, they all played poorly. But there were alot of times I would be wondering who the dman was who look like he was a step behind or just not playing well and when I would get the number, it was Regehr. I know alot of you love him but he did look really slow and look out of place and look like he did not belong. He may have had a bad week or not ready for int'l play, but out of all of the dmen, he looked lost more then others.
Now as far as others that played and also played badly, they all sucked, but hey offense was even worse with not scoring 11 out of 12 periods. WOW!
So they all did a bad job, but Regehr just happen to stick out becasue he look like he was skating in mud at times.
Just my thoughts and what I seen and not having like or dislike for any of them.
US - just sucked, period!!!!!!!

who would you vote for norris?[/quote] Well looking at top dmen, I am having trouble with one, so may have to wait a bit longer to see how season ends. Outside of usual Lidstrom, I like the way Zubov and Schneider are playing. both are scoring but also have strong plus/minus. Now Redden plus/minus is great also.

Tough to say right now. Zubov is having a great year. There is also Visnovski (sp) who is having an amazing year not only stats wise (56 points in 58 gp).
Then there are the usual candidates; Lidstrom, Neidermayer, Chara, Pronger, and Redden. My favorite player is Rob Blake, but I don't think he's in the mix this year.
It is very close. As of now I say Chara, Visnovski and Lidstrom should be the finalists.

Would u give dion phaneuf consideration? he's playing amazing and he's logging mid 20s for minutes. Plus he plays in all situations. He shouldnt be overlooked.

He shouldnt be overlooked. he shouldnt be overlooked, your right, but do you honestly think hes playing better than 3 of the aforementioned guys? like zubov and lidstrom are playing better than him for sure. hes a great talenet but i tihnk a year or two away, hes 20 for gods sake! its a bit like saying ovechkin should win MVP or at least be in the voting for it (wich he should be )

Ovechkin should be in the race for mvp. He's taken the caps and carried them the entire season. And he's only 20 as well.
Im cheering for sweden too. Lidstrom, Lundqvist, Forsberg. Go swedes

Niedermayer struggled through the first few months and only recently started to find his stride offensively. I'd take Phaneuf over quilted bounty soft Lubomir Visnovsky, and I loathe the Flames. That means hate, Sharky.
