Maybe so, but is it not true that those defenseman themselves "stack" the team? Hence making them great defenseman and therefore Norris worthy?
We could argue that Heatley was also on a stacked team, but that didn't stop him from winning any awards.
Redden or Nieder or Schneider personal talent was a strong reason why they got the numbers they got. As well, the real life Lidstrom was on Detroit, the #1 team in the West this season, but that didn't stop him from winning the Norris trophy.
As I said, in the NHL, Gonchar had more points and was only a -5 on Pittsburgh, but he didn't win it.
The point is clear, in our league, there is truly no reason why Lidstrom should have won the award over the other choices.
