as a vet of the process, ive just gotta say: too bad i got outbid on a guy 5 mins before the deadline by 200k... did i come on and complain? eventually one of you will stop placing bids.... 100k is fine.. its a 2 week process for a reason... i think alot of it has to do with bidding close to a players final worth quickly... cause ifyou start near the threshhold it will only be a few back and forths till someone drops out of the bidding... if i see a player (UFA) going for a reasonable price to me, should I bid alot more on that player? or try to get him at the lowest price possible... if you see youve got someone bidding against you just increase your next bid by a fewe hundred k at least and THEN see if hes still going to raise you. whatever... im rambling, just suck it up... FA is like this every year (actually this is the least controversial FA yet) Nicely said Monty, like you said it has been the same for years and this year is definitely tamer compared to passed but we have many more dog days to go. yes, 100 k bids suck and I have been on both sides like most of us who have been here. It is the way it is. Make the bids on the players you want not just for sake of bidding............heck i look at who I am going against some guys just have too much money and have to be selective and spend where I want to be.... I would like to be finsihed with money and bids sooner then later.... LOL err thanks for backing me up... it was YOU who outbid me by 200k last night at 10 o clock lol

Karma is a wonderful thing. Scott Walker - 3 years - $3,000,000 (Florida overbid, the next highest was Philly who no longer had the cash, so it went to Minnesota, the first person who could afford it, due to the date of his bid, he wins him now) Now I am not so annoyed anymore at those 200K raises.

I do not agree with the way this was handled, my bid on Stumpel should have been removed and Walker should be awared to me

Why though?
The way I see it is you spent the Walker cash on another player. If my bid on Keith Tkachuk was still there I would not have had the money to sign Walker. And I would be pretty angry if they canceled that bid and gave me Walker instead.

THAT'S not the why it works Minny!! your 3 mil bid on Walker would have been removed and I would have gotten Walker for cheaper yet. It was my 4mil fuckin tied up for 2 days not yours.

That is why you could not sign Walker. You wanted that bid removed so you could sign walker. I had a 4.5 million dollar bid on Keith Tkachuk. If I did not get out bid on him clearing that money last night I would not have been able to sign Walker. There is no way I would want the Commish to remove my bid on Keith Tkachuk to sign Walker. It's the exact same thing. But you want them to cancel current bids on other player if this happens, I would not want my current bid canceled on another player to make room.

There is no reason for you two going back and forth at eachother, because niether of you can change it. If you have a problem then take it up with Gavin, it is niether of your "fault" or "mistake" so there is no reason for arguing ;D

I don't argue with people who have no clue what they are talking about. I did take it up with Gavin, and I can understand why it was done this way -so as not to screw up nimerous other bids. Hope you guys can see how one over bid can fuck up many bids - so please keep an eye on your spending guys.

If a team is found to have overbid, it will revert the next highest bid that can afford that player AFTER the end of the nights bidding. This could technically go as far back as NO bids, and so be it if that happens. If that does happen, the counter is reset to "starting point" with a minimum salary of the previous last highest bid.
Thats from the rules, and thats exactly what I did last night in regards to Walker

Walkers bid clock should have been reset... if other GMs knew he was actually only at 3 million, not at like 4.5 (?), there may have been other valid bids on him. I wasn't interested in him at all, but if I was I'd be a bit annoyed.

Well, as I told my Father, take it as a lesson that it might be in your best interest to do a little detective work and see if the person who outbid you has the cash before you go re-spend.
