Maybe we should only be able to bid on those minimun guys, but if need 2nd bid, then you need to be under cap.... If you don't have cap room then you can't claim and/or bid on unassigned players during the first wave of claims. Not sure how much more clear I can make this. This was brought to everyone's attention at least 5 times on the board and/or through e-mail. Like Monty said, "if you needed room to fill out your roster u needed to save cap space. We all knew ahead of time"

I thought in seasons past we were able to send players to the farm prior to unassigned claims? You were. However per the several posts I made and minimum two e-mails I sent out regarding this, unassigned claims will be under cap for this offseason. Will we do a week of unassigned claims under cap, then teams can send players to the farm and teams that didn't have room can then make claims on the remaining players. I was just confused over which cap you meant (the 57 mil cap during the season with farm players at 10%, or the 62 million cap with farm players at full price). Now I'm clear on it.

The best thing to come out of this years FA, with all the salary adjustments really starting to come into effect is players finding homes on teams that used be basement dwellers (no insult intended).
This is the result of the poorer teams having more money because their roster isn't as good.
This spreads out the talent more, allowing more teams to field a strong competitive roster, making it more fun and enjoyable season for everyone!
I couldn't be happier with the results of FA this year.

Here, this might make it easier.....
- Open FA on RFA/UFA - Under cap unassigned claims for one week ---------------------------------------------------------- - Cap lowered to 57mil/farm open @ 10% - All teams may claim remaining unassigned players - Entry Draft - Teams must be under cap for season start - Start season - Two weeks in all roster req must be met

Teams like Toronto, New Jersey, San Jose, Philly etc... had some major reconstructing to do and tough choices to make, but that's the fun of it! Ya can't have every player all the time

I fully agree it is the fun part of league, I just don't understand keeping same players all the time especially it team is not making playoffs. Heck I make changes even when I do because talking trade is best part but holding on is boring to me. I had to make changes no doubt because I tried to make a run last season but again that is the fun part.

Holding on to players is kinda like, developing them, you hold them because you believe they will improve and become more valuable. I like to hold onto my players, unless I need to fill a hole.

I agree with Gavin.... you hold onto your players to develop them and thus, build your team....if everyone just traded all their players all the time.....wouldnt this just be a whore house?

Yeah but some hold on to players like they have a personal relationship with them
Some hold on to long and they end up with whores who are worthless
Value does not last forever as some may believe

One rule that I think will become almost obsolete soon (it may already be) is the 35% raise for resigned RFAs. I highly doubt people will use it anymore.

Funny, I just sent Gavin a PM the other day in regards to this. There were 10 teams that used the re-sign, 3 of which were because of trades, and only one bid on another teams RFA which was Ballard by Detroit.

Bet some teams wished they had the 10% discount but 1 year max rule I suggested but nobody seemed to want

Really happy to sign Langkow at 500k. I think he'll have a decent year in Phoenix.
