Make your top 4 picks in each conference. You can pick in order you think or just pick top 4 you think will battle for top of each conference.
Also if you want, make picks who will battle for last spots in each conference and teams that may surprize.
This is all just for fun to start season off right on the 1st!

I don't make your top 4 Jon? That disappoints me. Guess I'll just have to prove you wrong

This may piss some people off, but oh well...
West: IMO the top three in the west is clear cut, and several teams will challenge for the 4th spot, but I chose Calgary.
1- Blues: no other team in the west has as good of SC ratings. Pretty solid D, but could use another top 4 D. Great goaltending. 2- Oilers: offense is slightly behind Blues, but the Oilers have a better D. Should be a close call. 3- Detriot: Fantastic D. Deep on forward, but really needs a couple of scoring wingers. Only SC above 75 is Perry, St. Louis has 6 players above 75. Needs a 4th line C. 4- Calgary: Really deep team, should be able to find some chemistry simply because there are so many possible line combos. Excellent D, but lacks top forwards.
Chicago, Nashville, and San Jose (hopefully) will compete for 4th too.
East: Toronto is easily 1st, lots of competition after that.
1) Toronto: even with St. Louis on the farm, Toronto has the best offense in the league. Pretty good D, but really needs #6 D and a third line winger. 2) Pittsburgh: very good all around, no glaring holes. Could use a second line RW and a 4th line centre. 3) Washington: deep on forward and solid D, especially with the Keith trade. Several high SC ratings, but not many great passers. 4) New Jersey: Pretty good D and a good top line. Lacks high SC ratings other than Stafford. 2nd line won't provide much offense, but all lines will be good defensively.
Boston and Florida should also compete for 4th spot. If Crosby gets going like he did last year, the Isles could surprise.

It's a long season and much may change by season's end, this is the way I see it now. EAST: 1. Toronto 2. NJ 3. Boston 4. Washington The East is a real tough call, as far as the lower 4 playoff teams. West: 1. Detroit 2. Calg. 3. Chicago 4. Edmonton Chicago has the best D in the league, and could be a dark horse Cup Contender. Bottom 4 playoff teams a little more clear cut at this point in the West.

Every cup winner we've seen in this league has had a good offence and IMO Chicago doesn't have one. The Hawks will be great in their own end of the ice, but Grabner is their only scorer. Even on D, there are plenty of amazing DF ratings, but not many good offensive ratings. If Gavin finds some chemistry on lines 2-4 in the line up he may have a chance, but really that "if" applies to every playoff team in the league.

Horton has a 74 scoring himself, which is pretty good. Buff has a 76 scoring on D (highest in the league), Corvo has a 70, Meszaros has a 66. All my D have good passing numbers, only 1 player has passing below a 70. I am hurting for scorers, but I feel I make up for some of that by being 3 lines deep. I don't really think I have a cup chance right now, but I'm happy with my roster and my franchise as a whole. Chicago looks to be strong for years to come.

Obviously I think they're good or I wouldn't have put them in my top 4, but looking them over again St. Louis has a glaring PA problem especially on the wings. Sure they have awesome scorers but who's gonna pass them the puck? They have 5 forwards with 70 or better in passing, however two of those guys are also their best SC ratings. After that you have one 78, 72 and 70 (4th line C). They could probably use a guy like Whitney as a nice setup man

So much for any leverage when I'm negotiating for good PA rating players! Enstrom and Shattenkirk should get a fair number of assists. You got a bargain with Whitney at 500k, but he would have a been a fourth liner for me...probably should have bid anyway. He had some good seasons for us. And yes, I am looking for a d-man or two, but probably won't have time to look things over for a couple of weeks. Btw, thanks for the positive reviews...this is easily the best team I've had in the J.
