As we get closer to the start of the season, I just wanted to get some opinions on how long people feel the schedule should be. I remember someone mentioning that they thought last years season was too long, so I want to get some input. Remember that the shorter the season, the more games played on each day, and the less amount of days off (rest time) you'll get between games. Also remember that we will be simming 2 days a day for a little while to try and get caught up with the NHL, as close as we can. Also, would you like to have more games against your conference, your division, or the league?
Last 3 seasons lengths: Season 1 - 176 days Season 2 - 165 days Season 3 - 160 days

I'd say more games versus our division, then more versus our conference. It would mean that teams that get into the playoffs are the ones who are the best in the conference, not the team that can beat up on the other conference (*cough* East sucks *cough*).
-Dallas inserts two cents-

If it an'it broke, don't fix it. I like the way it is.

I agree mostly... about playing more games within out division, and our conference...however, i think each team should meet once in each teams building. So you'd have 2 games vs everybody in the other conference
13 x 2 = 26 games
That leaves you with 56 games to determine how you wanna split it up between conferences and divisions.

I think somewhere like 170 games, two a night should be fine, maybe even long term as I somehow doubt we'll ever really catch the NHL for any length of time.
Also agreed each team at least once, more conference, more divison.

All of those seasons are in the 5 month range, which without double sims would have us starting playoffs in June. So with double sims probably early May. That time line works for me... it gives us plenty of time to get the offseason over with and the season started up at around the same time the NHL season does next september.
I think it largely depends on if Jon is planning any more tours. If he is it may be best to go with 160- although the difference of 15 days doesn't make a big difference.

Well, if we do more double days, I'd like to see more time for rest in there myself.
Jon's tours among other things are basically why I mentioned us probably never truely catching the NHL for any length of time.

As long as we don't do the current NHL schedule, i'll be happy. I'd like to see each team come to every city, i'd like to see how both conferences stack up against each other.
It's only January and i can't wait to see next years schedule so i can see crosby play edmonton.

Ok, the schedule has been posted. It's basically the same outline as last season, which I think worked pretty well. -Minimum of 2 games against each team in the other conference -Minimum of 5 games against each team in your division -Minimum of 4 games against the other teams in your conference Or something like that lol

Don't worry you won't see to much of my crosby either, i'll try and do more damage against the flames
