Tough call? Both have lots of no nonsense Veteran Gm's plus Young talent and decent goaltending, which should be factored in. You can see Gm's still trying to improve for a run this season and others re-building for the future. There is alot of balance IMO more than in other season's. I thought at the beginning I could pick the contenders, but at this point - have no clue. At present, the software says Calg.- Colo. in the WEST Bos.- Tor. in the East as our projected final 4.

I'm gonna go with East this year. Over the past 4 seasons, its been the west time in and out no question; teams in previous years fighting for the playoffs in the West would be in the top 6 in the East.
This year it is apparently the other way around, although I do think its a bit too early to tell, I think we really need to get closer to 50% through the season before we can really make a judgement call on this one.

Half way through the season would make it easier, but its more fun to try to make an educated guess now ;D

It depends on what your definition of best is... the top teams in the West I think are better than anything the East can offer (other than Toronto)... however the East seems to be deeper (it has more average to good teams).
At this point tt looks like the East is more offensive and the West is more defensive.
I still think the West is the best conference, but the gap has narrowed since last years complete domination lol.

I aways thought the west top 4 teams were head and shoulders over east teams last few years, but I never believed that the rest of the west was avergae at best, which is why the top 4 always had cleared path to finals. The eat was always a drag it out, beat whomever from within the top 8 to 10.......

It depends on what your definition of best is.... Good point....I'll rephrase the question then... Which conference would win each of these match-ups: No. 1 East vs No. 1 West No. 8 East vs No. 8 West Last Place East vs Last Place West
