After a couple of mediocre seasons the Rangers hope to push past the second round and build momentum into future seasons.
Forwards
GMGR tried to build his top six based off of size, grit and defensive responsibility working with players already in the cupboard with a couple of key additions. Hossa and Folingo were brought to add scoring, defense and veteran savvy, the Rangers expect a big year out of the latter. The bottom six will be looked upon for key depth scoring while managing to hold their own defensively while providing important PK minutes.
Wilson - Johansen - Folingno
Stafford - Fisher - Hossa
Smith - Eller - Stempniak
Flynn - Cliche- Trocheck
DEFENSE
The defense assembled will asked to keep the crease clear to let up and coming work horse Braden Holtby perform his duties. Garrison and Daley will be asked to do a lot of the heavy lifting offensively in this group, but GMGR fully expects the two veterans to be able to handle the load. The bottom two defensive pairing are with filled size, experience and just down right nastiness, Look for those devastating hits this year.
Garrison - Daley
Bogosian - Beauchemin
Miller - Gilbert
Goaltender
Holtby solidifies his place as an undisputed number 1 this year. All expectations are for him to play a majority of the games, don't be surprised if he starts upwards of 70 games. Scrivens leaves more to be desired, but with Holtby as a starter the need for a backup was put on hold.
Holtby
Scrivens
While the Stanley Cup is always the goal GMGR is excited for the future. Prospects are maturing and many are close to NHL ready, Rangers are ready to add a difference maker this year with the #13 overall.
The intention to replace Roenick has not wavered. The coaching search is on and has been reduced to a select few, except an announcement within days.
The lineup could change depending on trades and scoring/defensive holes once the season starts, but as of right now I introduce to you the 2015-2016 Rangers lineup.
