You guys had me thinking Gagne was going to last until my 65th pick! Great pick up Scott. While some others and myself going "off the board", you've done alright too, Jake, in this 3rd rnd with Carlo and now Greenway. I'm admittedly not his biggest fan, but some proven results, absolutely huge and very mobile. Earlier in the season, yet another lad touted for the 1st rnd. Many were projecting earlier in the yr, had they kept the pick, that Oilers would potentially draft him 16th. This draft class will be interesting to reflect back upon, even to compare the NHL draft slot to JGHL draft slot and their performance thereafter.

This thread is crying for a classic Ray comment lol I was thinking the exact same thing! I know a few people here are friends with Ty, but I don't remember who. Maybe someone can hit him up and let him know.

Personally I think most/all players in this draft class will be huge busts. I looked into my crystal ball a few months ago and saw that 5 years into the future, no one in this class outside Travis Konecny and Vili Saaaaarijaaaarvi will be anything special..
Obviously kidding, but the thought made me look back at some of my busted picks that I thought would pan out: Kyle Beach (next bertuzzi my ass), Jacob Josefson (i know he's a player but i really thought he's be the next zetterberg), Jordan Schroeder (displayed some sick skills in world juniors, and that's about it). Just keeping it to 1st rounders, anyone got some notable of their own?

Just keeping it to 1st rounders, anyone got some notable of their own? Through the first 9 entry drafts I only had one 1st round selection, 2006/#26 Dennis Persson, never played an NHL game.

I can think off hand of 2 3rd Rd picks I had made, that made it to the NHL successfully. I traded years ago Abdelkader and Letang. How bout Gallagher, no one in the JGHL drafted him and he was used for a 5th rd missed pic.

I haven't been around as long as some (6 Drafts counting this year), so the guys who could be categorized as busts are pretty limited at this point. John McFarland (#26, 2010) might be the only one, but he was kind of a risk/reward pick anyway. What struck me was of the 15 first rounders I've made in the first five years (2010-2014), I only have one left in the organization - Bo Horvat (#9 in 2013). Somebody should give Bo a call and tell him not to buy a house in Vancouver, I'm thinking.

These days they're the cat's meow

Joe, you don't see Jack Campbell as a bust yet?

How bout Gallagher, no one in the JGHL drafted him and he was used for a 5th rd missed pic. Actually what happened with Gallagher was this.....for the 5th round I had my eye on him but was also looking at Reinhart. So right before it was Buffalo's pick I contacted him about a trade, but since there wasn't enough time to post the trade and get votes before Buffalo had to make the selection I just told him who I wanted him to draft, then I immediately traded my 5th next year for him. Don't take away my credit for picking him out so late

Joe, you don't see Jack Campbell as a bust yet? He's close. But he is still listed as #3 on the Dallas depth chart, so he still has a chance. It's getting to be a bigger longshot every year for sure.

The last time I had 4 picks it didn't turn out awesome (not horrible and still a little early) 5. Sean Courturier 13. Sven Baertschi 23. JT Miller 25. Alex Kholkachev
Hopefully this year it turns out better. Other than that a lot of meh to bad guys (Marek Schwarz, James Sheppard, Devin Setoguchi) with some good picks (Bobby Ryan at #4, Logan Couture (8) and Brandon Sutter (18) in the same draft) I think they are some decent late round guys in there as well.
Hopefully these picks this year knock it out of the park and it looks (according to many rankings) that Dylan Larkin at #22 last year may be a good pick.
