Well that's a bitch. Win 15 games in a row, and then lose 3 in a row to a team I went 3-1 against during the regular season. This could end up being the biggest choke in Sharks history! Vancouver's goaltending has been pretty lights out for the last 3 games. Meanwhile my best players have been no where to be seen. Right there with you buddy. Not sure how it's possible to lose 3 in a row after that 2-0 start. And won't go for the easy blame in Rask cause he's actually played well ish. By now I've realized the team with a goalie advantage will go on to win a series more often than not. Dubnyk is clearly better than Rask, and Bishop than Varly. Still hoping for a nice comeback starting tomorrow, but my confidence isn't overly high.

Onto the two greatest words in sports... Game 7. We're going to take a hard look at our lineup and figure out what might work..

Thanks man I knew when I was down 3-1 I didn't have much of a shot but at least I delayed the inevitable lol. Good luck the rest of the way

I'm happy Toronto and I both managed to tie our respective series back up after being down 3-1. With Varlamov quite tired and with Bishop rested I'm not optimistic going into game 7... Bishop has been killing me this series.
Both teams are extremely beat up and tired. This has got to be one of the hardest series in Sharks history... it is hard to believe it is only the second round!

Congrats Kev on a hard fought and well earned series. That was one for the books, and probably the toughest battle I've had since the Devils in the conference finals. Good luck to you as well as the Rangers, should be a good one!
Looking forward to see how the rest of these crazy playoffs play out and eventually an interesting off season..

Can you get any closer than that?? Overtime goal in Game 7?! Eugene.. I don't know what to say.. you gave me a battle i quite frankly didn't think my team was going to be able to win. Thank you for a great series. Onto the Rangers which won't be any easier....

Very tough series against Nashville. Pretty sure we would have lost game seven if Pominville hadn't scored that overtime goal. Thanks for the battle James. Good luck to the Sharks and Canucks tomorrow. We'll be the underdogs no matter who wins.

Tough series against St. Louis, I think my weak goaltending finally caught up with me. Best of luck in the next round!

Ah I figured that would happen. Really disappointing end to my season. Tough to win three in a row against Vancouver. Bishop did it again only allowing one goal on 37 shots. Varlamov had a solid series too, but Bishop was the difference... My offense just dried up against him.
Good luck Joe. Honestly I think whoever won this series was going on to win the cup.

Thanks, Jake. Not sure if the better team won, but it was an amazing series. You have a great team. I knew whoever won was going to earn it. Now on to another tough series against the Blues.

So in looking at the final 4, it further progressed my thoughts on the goalie being the single biggest factor in the sim. Look at the starters for the remaining teams: Holtby (85OV), Dubnyk (85OV), Price (86OV), Bishop (84OV).
I just checked and they are quite literally the top 4 rated goalies in the league this year. Now I'm not taking anything away from the rosters around them, and of course the work of the GMs to fill the rosters, but it begs the question: Unless you have a top 4-5 rated goalie in any given year, do you have any legit chance at the cup? Even if you look at the last 4 cup winners, all had a top rated goalie.
It's definitely interesting and makes some sense because it's the last line of defense, but it's kind of flawed. In real life, sometimes a team can overcome a weaker goalie with a stacked D, or an overwhelming O, or both. In our format, it doesn't seem to matter over 7 games as the team with the better goalie wins more often than not. Again, not complaining, but just want to see what everyone's thoughts are on this and if we can make any changes going forward to level the playing field so to speak.

Well Braden Holtby fucked me up today LOL.. what a performance with 34 saves.
I think it is realistic Eug. Using a homegrown experience, look at the years that the Leafs won a few rounds with Cujo or Belfour.. their defense wasn't great..
A great goalie can take you pretty far... oh yeah.. Carey Price maybe! where's Montreal now? I think it's where it should be.. I just wish I had a better goalie now lol
