Hmm .. Well I would be ok with a contraction, but I know Jon you don't want to shrink the league, it's a set back sure but you been mentioning for the last little while how your sick of the lack of activity from several gms (myself included) in this league. Maybe wait a couple years do a screening process and maybe look then at having it back to 26 teams if thats the way to go. It was brought up and I agree one other team would have to go as well for balance purposes. I'm sure I would be one of the teams on the list due to lack of inactivity. Unfortunately what you would like for me to do? I'm trying to rebuild and looking long term for this not a quick fix. I'm quiet guy don't like to ruffle any feathers so I keep low, if its something that your not looking for in your league then, I apologize and I will give up my position at seasons end if you decide on contraction.

We are not going to contract the league, that makes no logical sense. Guys this is about doing your lines so as not to be auto lined. That pisses off Jon more then anything.

I'm more concerned about guys that can't even buy a cheap lap top to send lines in. Hate to disagree with you Ray, but it's about more than just submitting lines, in my opinion. It's about guys who never reply to trade offers, or guys who don't log onto the league site for weeks at a time. It's about a minimum level of commitment that some guys don't seem to have to this league.

It's all relative, Joe. I personally know that not taking care of your line - up, for injuries, overuse adjustments etc., is the thing that Jon hates the most. For me it takes the fun out of it, not fun when you go up against the software, and not a live GM, most GM's worth their salt aren't gonna lose to auto lines. I think we should replace pitts. and move on. Jon already sent a message about auto lines. Ask Rob? Let's also remember that the gm's that don't log in much, are in the minority, anyone with eyes can see that 17 - 18 guys login daily not including staff. That's not that bad and has been that way for 12 yrs.. I'm not sure why some guys don't answer pm's at times. Maybe they forget or don't see them on those damn smart phones lol Anything can always be better, but nothing can always be perfect.

Somehow I missed this post until this evening. I would personally rather not reboot, I am too attached to my roster. I would prefer to just replace the penguins and carry on, I may not be the most attentive GM but I try to at least keep my house in order so my lines are autoed.
As far as how to increase activity? I am not sure, I personally do not make too many moves but that is because I like to preach patient with myself.
I *COULD* be down for contraction but really would just prefer to stay put or possibly inflation.
Either way I super appreciate all the time you put into this league Jon, and I am thankful to Gavin for inviting me in realizing how much I would love this league.

So after taking the weekend to think things over a little more I've decided that contraction is not the way to go. I think the best thing to do would be to get a new GM in for Pittsburgh and keep moving forward. I think everyone got the notice and other than 1 or 2 GMs who are active in their own way everyone else either posted in the thread or sent me a PM. So I think we're all good for a bit, going to try and fill Pittsburgh asap.

I'm down for whatever is best for the league. on a selfish note i'm personally not interested in a reboot. took me years to rebuild and the team is finally looking good and i'm waiting for some prospects to come through. there was a lot of pain and suffering last fews years for me and i want to see what comes of it down the road.

Yea Jas in your case it's pure "let's reboot so I can try to draft back all my players" case. Problem is most of them would be gone by the 1st round lol

So i too have no idea how i missed this thread.. but I'm not in favour of a reboot either. And I too Jon, dont know how much of a spark contraction would be... would it give some teams that dont have many assets another trading chip or two? Maybe i guess.. but that's a short term fix.
And as far as new GM's not wanting to come into the league with crappy teams, I can say out of my experience.. that's not true. When I took Florida over, I think i had 3 qualified NHLers and no prospects whatsoever.. but i found that part of the challenge and exciting and proud to see that I've built a contender (although it took me quite while)..
Expansion would be an interesting idea, but it doesnt solve the "stale" problem. If anything you just might have some more disgruntled guys for losing a few assets they werent able to protect.

The other thing I'd say is, I don't think how active a GM is in trading should necessarily play a huge role in determining whether or not someone's active or not. I think I've said this before, but I'm not going to trade fro the sake of trading..
