I knew this kid wasn't going to last in Edmonton the moment they drafted him.

The title of that article is hilarious Chris... "Trade Nail Yakupov? Not if you want to win the Stanley Cup".... also how the author said the Oilers will be fine building their defence around three young studs like Justin Schultz, Laddy Smid, and Jeff Petry (with the former two young studs barely hanging on to NHL jobs, and all have been traded away from the Oilers). That article was just a classic case of being blinded by homerism... the rest of the league was saying trading Yakupov for a good defensemen should be a priority for the Oilers at the time.
Fans have been giving Chiarelli a hard time for trading 1st overall Yakupov for a 3rd rounder... I don't really think he deserves criticism for that though. It wasn't his fault the previous management over ruled their pro scouts and selected Yakupov over Murray (who the Oilers scout had voted 8-2 in favor of selecting over Yakupov).
Chiarelli does however deserve to catch hell for trading Hall, 16th overall (Barzal/Connor), and 33th overall (Demko) for Larsson and Reinhart.

Yakupov trade had to get done, I'm not too chocked up on the Hall trade as I think Larsson is a good needed peice but the trade is obviously still in NJs favour. But that Reinhart trade was terrible the moment it happened, he'd have trouble getting a 4th round pick for him now.

Just really bad asset management between Hall, Yak and two high picks in a deep draft. The Flames have had their fair share too under Sutter/Feaster with Phaneuf, Regehr, Bouwmeester and Iginla all traded for no one significant to the Flames current roster.
