What a joke.
2 years in a row the IIHF has ruined this tournament and a sub par team wins when they didn't come close to deserving it.
I used to love this tournament but with the past two years of crap it is getting tough to care anymore.

I didn't like that it ended in a shootout... but I don't think it's fair to call the American team a sub part team... they were the best team in the tournament.. ?

The Americans were/are awful.
They used lucky bounces (and awful reffing against the Russians) all tournament long to squeak by. I would say they were definitely a big step below Canada, Sweden and Russia and maybe ahead of the other teams only because they were so bad.
Not a single guy on that team that I would want the Flames (NHL) to have including the two losers who are Flames property now (Parsons and Fox).

I thought the top four teams were pretty even, even though I think Canada will contribute more impact players to the JGHL than the USA, Russia and Sweden. Canada's big disadvantage in this tournament is that their players play together a lot less than the other countries. The Europeans have had this edge for years, and the Americans with the National team development Program have it now, too.

Admittedly I haven't watched as much hockey this year as in years past, but ended up catching the two semis games and the finals and it was some of the best hockey I've seen in a while.
