Rent a player Ryan Miller headed to Philly to back up Crow. 2.5 cheap and half the league needs Goalies. So the price was high, but under the circumstances seems fair to me.

And just think Mike Smith (79OV) is also available, and all I want in return is a lower rated goalie who makes a couple of bucks less

The goalie market in itself is a crap shoot this year.
Rinne and The King are destined to make 10mil this year!

I think that the Ryan Miller deal needs to be seriously re-thought.
Miller is a 1 year UFA with backup ratings. I really dont see how a team can justify frying a 1st round pick thats 4 years out for one year of backup quality tending...
I know Ray is a legit GM and somehow always keeps his team in the thick of it, but this is a deal I am not behind.

I don't know, I don't think this is going to be one trade that creates a distinct advantage for one team or another. Yeah DET is getting the first round pick but who knows what it will be, and if that is the price that PHI wants to pay for Miller then why not? Some people value players higher or lower than others, I think this is just one of those cases.

I agree, its a bit crazy to trade a 1st rounder (even if its 2020, but its the highest 1st round pick he has, which is another issue IMO) for a bad 1 year UFA that you don't need...

I really don't have a prob, if you guys think I over paid. If it's rejected I don't have a problem with that either.

Down with the division rivals!

Not sure why you say he's a bad 1yr ufa. and A player I don't need. Last I checked miller had a 78 OV and Crow can only make 65 starts. I don't see anyone offering a cheap back-up, and I plan on another Cup run. I'm not paying 5 mil plus for a back-up from the UFA list. That was my thinking, so I made the best offer I could without hurting my team. My prob is I really don't have much to trade this season without hurting my team.

You only need 17 games and maybe a couple playoffs games if you are unlucky. Just because nobody is "offering one" doesn't mean you can't find one if you use a little patience. Why do you need your backup goalie NOW?! I'd wait until FA if I were you.

I'm the last guy you'd find down playing UFA value right now, but yea, any 1st for 17 games of a backup goalie is an overpayment. But to each their own. Maybe Miller will end up taking over Crawford and bringing a cup to Philly!!
