I cannot download or run the GM editor. Antivirus software is fighting it. Is there a clean version available?

Actually, I would recommend removing Norton and replacing it with a different antivirus
I found that Norton had issue with many other software/programs
There is Kapersky that you could try, or the free version of AVG (available online)

It is effectively Russian spy-ware, used by the Russian government to track people.

Windows Defender is free, then you can download a Malwarebytes for free although I pay for premium for 5 computers for 2 years.

I used windows defender with malwarebytes and they conflicted. I took my laptop in, and they recommended shutting down both and using Bitdefender antivirus free edition, only. I love it, updates and protects constantly. Never have to run a scan . I have to renew it once a year, by verifying E-mail address, by using my password, when notified.

I actually shut down Windows Defender, but always keep Malwarebytes Premium because of some of the work I do, it catches more the virus stuff but I also have McAfee but it comes free with geeksquad I use every year to clean out my computer, there is also CCCleaner too. But what ever works for what you do!
