It was a clean hit; but unfortunately, the suspension was a because of the end result of the hit; Eakin got injured.
So the league figure it was a hit to the head, labeled Boro a repeat offender and gave him a 3 game suspension
To be honest, it is my opinion that the league has it all wrong when it comes to some hits; where is the receiving player gets injured, then it merits a suspension. A caveat to this is if a player is from a certain team, no suspension is given; but if said player is from a different team, then over punishment is warranted.
Sometimes they do get it right, but most times they get it wrong. To my knowledge, the DPS has never been bias when it comes done to handing suspensions to players. To many of them get away with murder, and many is because of the team they play for or their status as players... (is Crosby's deliberate wack on Methot never got punished)
