The Rebuild is in full swing in Detroit rock city! Lots of moves over the offseason for the Redwings as shown above. While some moves could be considered questionable like moving on from established young players like Nick Schmaltz and Matthew Barzal, the wings have fully stocked their cupboards with some top end talent and have some surprise breakouts in the beginning of this NHL season.
At forward the likes of Filip Chytil, Casey Mittelstadt, Jordan Greenway, and Andreas Johnsson are all learning the ropes as they are up with their big clubs to start the season. While Luke Kunin, Filip Chlapik, Lias Andersson, Jonathan Dahlen, Martin Kaut, Rudolfs Balcers and even Micheal Dal Colle have had a very good start to their seasons in the AHL.
On defense Josh Morrissey is enjoying a good start with the Jets, while Max Lajoie and Henri Jokiharju are both surprising with their play in the NHL as well. Travis Dermott, Julius Honka and Victor Mete have been solid and will have plenty of time to get their feet under them as the season pushes forward. Prospect Erik Brannstrom is showing some impressive play to start the year in the AHL as well.
In goal the Redwings are backed by Vezina nominee Andrei Vasilievskiy. Samuel Montembeault had had a goos start to the year but both Marcus Hogberg and Thatcher Demko have injuries and have yet to play a game.
32nd – Rasmus Sandin
34th – Kody Clark
49th – Albin Eriksson*
55th – Sampo Ranta*
76th – Linus Karlsson
