So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.
Famous words uttered by one wise butler. Also words that Leafs GM Eug lives by. When he fell to the Calgary Flames in overtime of finals game 7, motivation was certainly in high demand. Where do you go from here? Well if this off season is any indicator, right back to the drawing board. After a fury of free agent activity and trades, the current Leafs lineup is an unfinished product but is taking shape:
Brad Marchand - Anze Kopitar - Bryan Rust Alex Killorn - Nicklas Backstrom - Blake Wheeler Jordan Greenway - Tomas Hertl - Filip Chytil X - Sean Kuraly - Viktor Arvidsson
Alex Edler - Ryan Ellis Alex Goligoski - Mattias Ekholm Erik Karlsson - X
Darcy Kuemper Anders Nilsson
Further tweaks and additions to come by puck drop but it looks like a pretty solid lineup. Top two lines have balanced ratings with great veteran presence. This D core has the best two-way numbers of any I've had, and Karlsson on the 3rd pair should indeed be deadly whoever ends up slotted next to him. Kuemps is definitely the ultimate question mark as far as championship asperations, but should be a fun season nonetheless!

The Leafs are thrilled to welcome John Marino to the organization. The son of former football great Dan Marino, John has championship in his DNA and will bring stability to the Leafs blueline for years to come.
As it stands the youngster will join veteran Erik Karlsson on the 3rd pairing. We caught up with Leafs GM to get his thoughts: "What do I think? I think all third lines in the league should be very concerned. These boys are gonna cock that joint back and bang on em."
Questions still remain about the team's depth and PK, but this will certainly go down as the most successful free agency in the franchise's 18 year history.
