Pastranak 25 goals in 25 games - what a stud. I hope this guy makes a run at 50 in 50.
Ovechkin not far behind him with 20 goals, does this dude age?! It would be cool to see Ovi make a run at Gretzky's goal record.
Arizona, Edmonton, and Buffalo all in playoff spots....is this real life?
The Red Wings are SO BAD and it hurts my soul.
And the Babcock drama continues, meanwhile Toronto looks like they've turned a corner...are they this year's Blues?
What's going on in the NHL that has caught your eye so far this season?

Pasta is so good, I made some last night with chicken and some olive oil mamma mia. Zona and Buff are great stories, Edmonton is pure "finally, what took you so long" to me. Feel bad for your Wings, but hey looks like you're balls deep in the Lafraniere sweepstakes so there's that!
Toronto could be this year's Blues, but small chance. I still think we get beat by Bruins, Pens, Caps, hell even Islanders. Still need a backup G, and D upgrade. Funny thing is everyone and their grandmothers knew Cody Ceci was miscast as a top pairing D in Ottawa and was getting exposed. So what do the Leafs do? Put him in a top pairing role and give him 22 min a night. Definition of insanity. But hey, I trust in Chief Keefe.
Some other pleasant surprises: Philly looking real good lately, Isles just keep doing their thing under Trotz, Sharks surge after the worst start ever.
Not so good: Tampa yikes, Devils yikes, Preds yikes. How bout the Habs losing 8 in a row, Habs are such a joke in all leagues eh? Finally Calgary, really hoping they can have a turnaround with that nut job gone.

Glad that Tampa is losing - after their rivalry with the Wings they have become my most hated team. They have the skill but for some reason have just been struggling. I do think Kucherov is overrated. Yes he has skill but last year is an anomaly for him. He won't get over 100 points again in my opinion. Point is clearly the best player on that team hands down.
Devils man....woof. Great offseason and just can't put it together. Flames have been putting it together but Johnny Hockey looks lost out there.
Also Penguins keep finding a way to be competitive and they have had injuries to Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Hornqvist already this year.

Is there anything worse than getting excited for the Trade Deadline day and then having your GM go out and totally blow it?
I wasn't expecting anything great and knew that even though it is clear we (Calgary) should sell the team would never do that because GM's always delude themselves into thinking their team is better than they actually are but I certainly didn't think we would add two plug defenders worse than the guys we have and traded away today.
The fall of Treliiving over the past two seasons has been amazing, and terrifying to watch. Two years ago i would have ranked him as a top 10 GM in the league now I can't wait for him to be fired and would say at best he is a bottom 5 GM, maybe the worst. And because of our moronic ownership we likely have this loser for 3-4 more years.

He knew his team needed help on the blue line and he did nothing to help it.

I knew Dubas sucked from the moment he was hired, well sucked might be harsh wasn't ready might be more appropriate but he does have some dumb ideas. Treliving sucked me in and gave me hope and that is the real killer, hope. I've dealt with GMs that I knew sucked right away, Feaster, and somehow even with all the awful moves they made and how bad they made the team that was easier than seeing Treliving be revealed as a fraud.

I think the Canes had a good days with trades they needed to make for blueline Vatanin and Skelj and Trocheck although would have give one less piece from farm
But good moves

I was pretty happy with the Isles landing Pageau. I thought they gave up a little too much but at least they re-signed him, but I thought that was a little high too. I really thought we were landing Parise and finally dumping Ladd, but at least they did something.
This was easily the best thing to come out of the deadline, possibly the greatest tweet in hockey history.....

The Blackhawks didn't disappoint, they still make the worst trades in the NHL.

Intriguing trade deadline.
FLAMES: I kind of like the Gustaffson pick up by Tre; didn't see it coming in the least, but not sure that was the big need - though an offensive spark from the blueline could hopefully ignite Johhny B Goode-drau et al up front. So maybe it's a boosting of existing forwards rather than actually an addition up front. I hope they can resign him if he does provide a spark and fit in. Forbort could be an underrated pick up, or just simply a waste of a 4th rnder.
I was actually hoping Flames would simply sign Bogosian (TBL got him of course) - not that I really think he'd be a difference maker, but wouldn't have cost any assets.
Hear ya Scott on Tre - I used the mantra for a while #TrustInTreliving, but that's long since gone - he's terrible at UFA signings, but seemingly a decent negotiator of RFA contracts. I like his personality. Mediocre at trades - The Lindholm-Hanifin acquistion I think worked out for both squads, but lean towards Flames. I hate his trades for depth - seems to squander mid round draft picks for nothing, at a time when their scouts have been finding gems in the draft beyond first 2 rounds.
*** JGHL Perspective:
Be interesting to hear JGHL GM thoughts on what guys went for in NHL Trade Deadline and what would be the expected return in the J - obviously different parameters and factors involved (contract/salary/current ratings, etc).
For example, Gustafsson obviously worth much more the 3rd the NHL Flames got him for, as evidence in the multiplayer Leafs-Sabres deal.
What about other players - what would their value be here in the J? Pageau, Lehner, Skjei, Kovy, Goodrow, Forbort, Trochek, etc
