Player drops will CLOSE on Friday @ 8PM! Fri night and Sat will be spent getting all of the free agents up on the board for bidding. 24 and under re-signs will be open Sunday @ 4PM and close on Tuesday @ 8PM! The option to re-sign 1 RFA player will open on Wednesday @ 4PM and close Thursday @ 8PM. Be sure to read the rules on using this option! Open free agency on RFAs and UFAs will open on Friday @ 10AM (closes nightly @ 10PM) and run for two weeks. Please remember that once player drops close they will NOT re-open again until AFTER unassigned claims have been completed. So other than trading there will be no way for you to clear more cap room if need be to re-sign and/or bid on free agents, as well as make any unassigned claims! Your current team salary and available cap room can be found at the bottom of the "Finances" page or in the following thread..... jghl.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=eleven&action=display&thread=3279

We have always opened the farm during unassigned claims. Per one of my previous e-mails, this year it has changed. It makes no sense at all that we cap free agency and then let people just spend wildly and exceed the cap for unassigned claims, only to have to be under cap by seasons start. If you don't have cap room then you shouldn't be able to sign players, simple.

Crap! I completely forgot to add the option of the 1 RFA re-sign. My original post has been updated. But don't worry, as always I will be sending out e-mails as we go along so everyone is up to date!

Like U24 No players have ever been able to be sent to the farm until after free agency was over, there's no reason it would be any different now. The only difference is that unassigned claims will now be part of your available cap room.

I hope ALL TEAMS know/understand the new rules with the cap this year...I didn't understand them until just now, when it was explained to me like I was being potty trained...Your team cap room is 62,000,000 for all of the following...
[glow=red,2,300]PLEASE READ[/glow] 1- 24 and under signing 2- RFAs resigning 3- UFA signings 4- Unassigned list.
It's only AFTER unassigned claims that the cap goes down to the normal 57,000,000, that's when you're able fill your roster to the 35 player minimum.....I'm hoping that all the GMs read the board or the email Jon sent out about a week ago because I didn't read close enough. That's why I'm posting this, for the GMs like me who think that an e-mail is business as usual.

Keep in mind there will still be 2 weeks in which you can pick up "fill players" from unassigned that go straight to the farm.
Most teams will have a few million to go around when the cap hits 57 and the farm opens, at 5k a piece, it should be easy to fill up if you need to do so.
It really only pertains to the "good players" available on unassigned, the 4-7 guys everyone seems to want to pick up, so the teams with salary available after primary FA (usually the teams hurting the most), will likely be able to afford them.

Absolutely correct Gavin, well said, my only concern is that teams are able to get to the 35 player minimum in time for the start of the season. We've been delayed before, if we could avoid it now, it would be better later....that was my intention tonight with my post....

What if there are no players left when teams that had no cap room finally get to claim unassigned guys, and they are under the roster minimum? There doesn't seem to be many players on unassigned, and a lot of them are the UFAs we will be bidding on.

[Absolutely correct Gavin, well said, my only concern is that teams are able to get to the 35 player minimum in time for the start of the season. You get 2 wks into the season to fill your roster. That's the 2 wks Gavin talked about, except I agree with Adam, there may be no one left. Teams had this problem last season as well. I don't really care much for the new rule, and have already expressed some concerns. I think that Roster requirments should at least be lowerd a bit, to accomodate new rule, I had suggested that, last season, as the handwriting was on the wall, even before the rule change. JMO
